Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! It’s time for the latest issue in the Darth Vader series, and this series continues to deliver incredible moments that Star Wars fans will love and this issue is no exception. So let’s not delay any further and jump right into it!
Grek Pak (writer), Raffaele Ienco (artist), Federico Blee (Colorist), Joe Caramagna (letterer), continue the ongoing story of Sly Moore’s Schism Imperial and their ongoing quest to get rid of the Emperor but keep the rest of the Empire around.
MORE STAR WARS!
The issue kicks of with Sabe, the former handmaiden to Padme Amidala, continuing her ongoing journey to try and find Luke Skywalker before Darth Vader can. So far she’s been unsuccessful, but maybe she can find an edge? From there we see members of the Sith Eternal, yes…THAT group we fist saw in The Rise of Skywalker, arrive to collect some supplies from the Schism Imperial. But everything is not what it seems.
SPOILERS BELOW
The issue really picks up after the schism imperial & Darth Vader follow the members of the Sith Eternal back to Exegol and confront them. If Vader & co thought they’d have the element of surprise, they’re sadly mistaken. Because it appears as if the Sith Eternal have been expecting something like this. They criticize Vader for “attacking relentlessly, without thought or preparation”. And honestly has he ever really thought things out when it comes to attacking something?
Raffaele Ienco and Federico Blee really shine in the battle that ensues over the next few pages showing just how widespread the battle is. The Sith eternal try to stop Vader, and much like the Rebel forces in Rogue One they learn that it’s easier said than done.
FINAL POINT
The end of the issue is another example of the incredible storytelling, and jaw dropping moments that the series has become known for. And it will leave readers wondering how Vader is going to get out of the mess this time. Only the Greg Pak knows, but readers should know that it’s going to be incredible and a moment to remember.
Score: 9.0 out of 10
