We’re definitely not in Kansas anymore!
The Spectacular Spider-Men #2 has A LOT going on for our wall-crawling heroes, Miles and Peter, so let’s dig in and try to keep it simple, shall we?!
We open with Dr Jane Foster examining a badly burned corpse, but as she states, every cell in this person’s body just exploded.
Peter is on the case and promises to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.
Love is in the Air
There is a weird tone throughout the book about imaginary love as our local buddy Cedric has a dream that he and the coffee shop barista Shelly are madly in love.
But this dream seems all too real and even Peter and Miles know something is off with their friend.
So, they go to investigate and it leads to some absolute craziness.
Vermin Galore!
As they follow Cedric down into the sewers, they run into an old foe, Vermin and his clones.
After a short battle, Miles’ clone Shift steps in and says he’s helping the Vermin clones to become good and protect the innocent.
Could be a story of redemption that also comes into play later.
Daredevil Gets a Smackdown
In a one-page side story that I’m sure will also tie in together, we see Daredevil get absolutely leveled by lonely criminal Turk.
Seems like he’s gotten some super powers and was able to knock our hero down in one blow.
Was this also a dream? Was this real? These very short stories all seem deliberate and intertwining somehow, we just don’t know how yet.
Marv is up to something
To close out the book, all-around shady character Marv invites Kenny and Shelly to beta test some video game for a lot of cold hard cash.
He tells them to come to the Arcadium after their shift.
Will we find out what’s happening in issue #3. Looks like it as the cover features other classic love stories – Peter and Gwen and Miles and Kamala.
Will our heroes suffer the same fate as Cedric?!
