Quick Plot Overview!:
Titans Beast World Tour Star City #1 takes us across multiple stories, all with one mission…to defeat the creatures created by the spores of a Beast Boy gone wild!
We get an exhilarating tale of a family crisis, a hero finding her voice, and a classic tale of Star Girl and the Frog. Characters such as Connor Hawke, Oliver Queen, Star Girl, Black Canary, Red Arrow, Huntress, and Red Canary get a lesson in zoology in this action-packed issue!
The Art:
This issue brings us three stories from different artists, which is always an absolute treat to view. The opening story takes us in a new style of art direction, while the other two remind me of the days when comics were printed in a newspaper.
Each artist plays an essential role in making this story come to life. I particularly enjoyed how they each took on their flavor within the creatures and the little nods, such as the Green Arrows boxing arrow! Team-ups can be challenging with so much happening, but the team flowed seamlessly, making this a visually appealing comic to read.
The Writing:
Again, team-ups can be a challenge with various voices that create their unique tale in an overarching plot, yet every writer comes in, and it’s as though one singular mind was at work. Having Ollie grapple with bonding with his son during a battle while worrying about Roy added depth to the often humorous hero.
I liked how this story allowed Justice League members to have a chance at mentorship and thought Dinah’s wisdom was well written. The characters have much more to do than simply fight which each writer did a splendid job at crafting.
Overall Thoughts:
Titans Beast World Tour Star City #1 is an adventurous and ambitious tale of finding our inner hero and saving the day at all costs. We see funny and goofy things, such as Green Lantern turning into a frog swallowing Star Girl, a sentence I didn’t think I would ever type! I love a good team-up; this story is fun and well-crafted.
