The Story:
While Tony Stark is plagued by nightmares, Ironheart and Forge continue on their quest to create a fleet of ships for the Mutant Resistance. While on this cosmic escapade, Riri has to confront the reality of the toll of the Mandarin rings she has been wielding.
The Writing:
Gerry Duggan does a great job moving from character to character as each has their own wants and fears. The relationship between Forge and Riri is well fleshed out, even though it is told through a rapid succession of time. Tony’s inner monologue and his budding relationship with Emma is another stand out here. Duggan is able to keep me interested in what is happening, no matter who is on the page and that is the mark of a great writer.
The Art:
Guest artist, Andrea Di Vito turns in a great issue as the characters and action jump off the page. The layouts showing the scale of the ships and the Makluan dragon were a feast for the eyes. As for the colors, what can I say that I haven’t said before about Bryan Valenza’s artwork? A fantastic outing, once again!
The Verdict: 9/10
Another wonderful issue that pleased this long-time fan to no end. Solid writing, fun character interactions, and a hook for what is to come makes this a must read. I am excited to see more from this team and cannot wait to see the Mark 72 in all of it’s glory next issue!
