Parliament of Rooks #3 is a gothic and love story combined series. The creative team behind this series is written and drawn by Abigail Jill Harding. The story takes the reader back to Darius Ravenscar, a man that is in the midst of a demon that is overtaking his life. As well as making decisions for him.
This series reminds me of a darker Beauty and the Best, with a bit of a twist. Darius has back in his life, his half-sister Rowanna who has been with him. His love interest, Seraphina quickly comes to see about Darius from the previous issue.
As the reader, the backstory of how Darius’s demon came to attach himself. Within the midst of rituals, and other elements needed to keep that connection. Darius doesn’t want Seraphina to see him like this, just because of how unpredictable the demon can be. Seraphina doesn’t care, and only cares about the man that is in the core of the monster.
With some interesting choice’s coming from Harding, as the reader I began to become interested in these characters. Darius is portrayed as really not having any control over his body. Rowanna loves her brother, and also she respects Seraphina.
This becomes quickly a quest to see how that Seraphina can save Darius from the demon. It becomes a daunting task, that moves quickly with the way the demon moves throughout the pages. A lot of rage, and inner thoughts are read throughout the pages.
This comic is interesting, and Parliament of the Rooks is off to a decent start. The only thing I would want to know, is more background about Seraphina. As well as, having other questions about other characters that can come about later in the series. Only time will tell, and of course there is a cliffhanger at the end. Where will Darius end up now? I can’t wait until the next issue.
