The Plot:

Darth Vader is coming off the heels of defeat at the hand of his master as he is now allowing himself to become part of the Scourge. Vader proves himself more powerful than any mere droid overpowering Scourge. Vader has become more powerful through the force and is set to come face to face with the Schism Imperial…

The Art:

The art has been a consistent strong point for this run, showcasing Vader’s emotions differently. The way Vader is drawn, and the trials he faces explode from the page. Whether he is showcasing force abilities or through his wits, you feel what is happening and how he is feeling through his artistic talent alone.

The Writing:

Writing Vader can be a challenge, but I think that Greg fundamentally understands who he is at his core as a character and what motivates and drives him. Vader is a tormented man, which Pak showcases through the challenges and drive in each issue and, more specifically, this issue. Vader is at his best when he is not using the force and Greg writes those moments so well.

Overall:

This run is when you take a break from playing the main story in a video game to power up and do side quests. It’s fun and exciting, and this issue showcases Vader reaching a new level within his force abilities, making him even more frightening. This issue has Vader using force, cutting down droids with his saber, and outwitting his opponent, all of which make him terrifying. I really enjoyed this issue.

9/10.
