The Plot

Legion continues his plot of blasphemy and deceit as Vieri hatches a plot to trap him and regain control of his body. However, things are not so easy as Vieri’s plan is spoiled and Legion once again escapes.

The Art:

Alex continues to showcase his skill set with the amount of detail put into every page. Some of his finest work comes when he replicates a look I have only seen done with The Joker in regards to Legion. Every time he draws him smiling he manages to create such a powerful and twisted look within his eyes it sends chills down my spine. Alex’s work is incredibly impressive between the colors and detail he provides in this issue.

The Writing:

David has been on a steady rise into the upper pantheon of comic book writers. Taking such a unique story and filling it with an incredible amount of intrigue and darkness showcases exactly why this is. This issue continues the cat and mouse game we see between Vieri and Legion yet, it adds a flavor of Supernatural to it. I would be remiss if I didn’t think of Sam and Dean Winchester as Legion was trapped in the pentagram and the dialogue Pepose knocks out of the park. The amount of influence from old school horror and bringing that fun light heartedness yet flavor of frightening makes his writing stand out immensely.

Overall:

This issue is bursting with things to love. We see the battle of wits between two strong characters, an insane amount of detail within the art, and elements of old school thrillers and shows. As far as original stories go The Devil That Wears My Face is a standout in the horror genre. Make sure to continue picking this book up as its full steam ahead to a sure fire epic battle and conclusion.
