The city has descended into darkness and now is the time for Carmine to make his play! Unfortunately, for Selena this is a job for Catwoman who has an errand of her own to run. All roads lead to Vandal Savages’ penthouse where it’s either kill or be killed.

Creative Team: Torunn Gronbekk, Danilo Beyruth, Joe Prado, Patricio Delpeche, and Steve Wands.
The Story:
This was a fairly straightforward entry into the Bad Seeds event however, it is a bit of a more personal one at that. Selena has a long history with Ivy and she knows the extent of what her abilities can do which brings an intensity and urgency to this issue. Not lost in the mix Torunn reminds us that Catwoman has a heart no matter how much she tries to hide it. There is a layer of empathy towards the innocent lives caught amongst the chaos that Torunn subtly puts in the story however, it stands out in a big way. Not every issue needs non stop action and it’s nice to be reminded during chaos to be empathetic.
The Art:
I absolutely loved the designs and methods the team used to show the takeover of the plant life in Gotham. It felt the more the story went on the more detail was being laid out and the city was more and more buried. Catwoman’s design in this issue really stood out to me as well. There is something so cool about her suit with the gas mask on that hit home to me. Despite the slower pace there were action sequences which were smooth and shows off how bad ass Selena can be.
Final Thoughts:
Catwoman #91 brings empathy and a heist to the Bad Seeds event making for an intriguing angle as the stories slowly set up to converge!
Overall Grade: 9/10
