Last we saw Laura Kinney, she was still on the hunt for her sister, and the X-clones. However, her teammate wasn’t exactly who she thought he was. Fortunately for Laura, some unexpected help showed up bringing this mystery full circle.

The Story for GENERATION X-23 #5
Trapped and staring at a ghost, Laura is uncertain what the hell is going on. The “ghost” explains everything. However, this trip down memory lane is no ordinary trip. It’s a mutant trip complete with trauma. Laura is now more in the know, and ready to save Gabby! However, not every one is on the same page. While X-23 continues to leave her feral past behind her, a couple quick and unexpected decisions take everyone by surprise.

The Art
Generation X-23 #5 continues to have absolutely gorgeous art. The trip down memory lane was beautiful, detailed, and perfectly flowed in catching Laura and the reader up. This was one of those comics where every page looked frame worthy. Even a moment full of X-23 robots was beautifully done, with a water-color feel to it.
In addition to the gorgeous moments, everyone’s facial reactions are so spot on, but Gabby’s had me smiling. A kid with a kick ass big sister, and powers of her own who really should be a little scared at times, but rarely seems to be, is the perfect addition to a serious situation. Her face at seeing Laura was absolutely spot on to what you would expect from a little sister who thinks she just won against the bully. She’s rolling her eyes, she’s overly confident, and she gets bored fast. I love seeing her express it all.
Final Thoughts
I am LOVING seeing Laura get her time in the sun as Wolverine. She’s not Logan, she’s finding her own way, but she’s still the best at what she does. Generation X-23 continues to be a fantastic showcase of who this Wolverine is while telling a new story with new mutants full of twists and turns. Our trip down memory lane showed why the X-clones are getting experimented on, and while it immediately made sense, I didn’t see it coming.
Overall Grade: 9.5/10
Any and all fans of mutant stories, should absolutely pick up Generation X-23! SNIKT!
