The Story
In End of Life #1, Kyle Starks brings an all new story with new characters that make their grand entrance with a bang. Setting the tone immediately, we meet Eddie, who has a group of assassins on the search him as he has a huge bounty on his head. When asked what he possibly could have done, we’re taken back to a recent memory of a group of robbers on the heist of a lifetime. One of their men couldn’t make it, so they subbed Eddie Stallion in to take his place. Eddie is no ordinary thief, but actually apart of the international cabal of assassins called the Menagerie. This secret crime group is nothing to scoff at, as they have rules that, if broken, will be the last thing you do.

Things are going well on the heist, Eddie is taking down security left and right, and the group of robbers make it to their prizes. All the jewels, collectibles, priceless collections they could ever want. That is, until Eddie realizes something that ruins the entire heist. They are actually robbing one of the highest ranking bosses of the Menagerie, the Raven. This changes everything. Eddie knows now that they have broken into the Raven’s house, they’re as good as dead.
Running from the Menagerie, and knowing it’s only a matter of time before they find him, Eddie heads home to his estranged father’s house.
The Heading
Kyle Starks knocked it out of the park with End of Life #1! This comic is filled with an expletive-loving, ego-driven main character who makes it easy to not like. When you meet Eddy, you realize why is so easy for others to hate. With his daddy issues, his lack of empathy, and him only caring about himself, Eddie now has to confront the ghosts of his past and lean on others like he never has before.
End of Life #1 is full of action, filled to the brim with excitement, and has a story that keeps you hooked in until the very end. Like I said, Starks knocked it out of the park. I’m very excited to see what the next issue will bring!
The Art
With a fantastic story such as this, you have to have artwork that matches the quality, and that’s exactly what Steve Pugh, Chris O’Halloran, Becca Carey and Gerald Parel gave us. The cover art instantly caught my eye, and that quality stays that high throughout the comic. The drawings on each page are dripping with detail and excellent use of juxtaposing colors to make the characters practically pop off the pages. The lettering is done in a way that you can feel the harshness of the characters words and the heightened emotions of the story. The artists really showcased their talents in a huge way with End of Life #1!
Final Thoughts
End of Life #1 is a fresh story that keeps your eyes locked into the comic. You’re immediately locked into the story and want to read so much more by the end of it. Hats off to the creative team because this was phenomenal!
Overall Grade – 10/10
