The Story
While Ross continues his story telling the story of Wakanda royalty of T’Chaka and T’Challa, we get an even better look at the history of the kings. Taken back to Harlem 67 years prior, T’Chaka is giving a very young T’Challa a crash course in preparing to be a king.
While that sounds all nice and well, it most certainly was much more sinister than you’d assume by a first glance.
T’Chaka, the king of Wakanda, holds nothing back while giving these royal life lessons to his son, some of which include being trapped in a basement or actual murder.
Along with a very interesting cameo and T’Challa finding an unexpected friend, the reader also gets a crash course in the history of Wakanda showing exactly how deep these laws and religious beliefs go in the African kingdom.
Besides the story of T’Challa coming into his own as a future king in his own right, we also get more information on the new and controversial king to the people of Wakanda, Ketema. Within his first few minutes as ruler of the nation of Wakanda, we get a good idea of exactly what type of king he will be. The reader is left on a hard hitting ending panel that’ll make your eyes widen with suspense.
The Art
With a storyline this explosive, it’s only right to have the artwork match the energy. That’s precisely what you get with Marvel Knights: The World To Come #3.
There’s an undeniable tense energy in each of the panels, as it feels like you’re building to something. Joe Quesada knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat through his fantastic artwork, but he also knows how to bring the point home. In more than a few pages in this comic, there’s quite a few dramatic scenes that are illustrated perfectly showing the importance of the moment. With colors handled by Richard Isanove, he brings an interesting grittiness through the dark colors with occasional juxtaposing vivid colors. The artists continue to impress with their creative talents, bringing so much heat to Marvel Knights.
Final Thoughts
There’s a reason this is the most explosive comic book run of 2025. The creative team makes sure the reader is kept on the edge of their seat the entire time, with a shocked look on their eyes. Another home run for Marvel Knights.
Overall Grade – 10/10
