*SPOILERS AHEAD*

The Story:

Jeremy knows exactly how to hit the right beats and when in this story. The last couple of issues have been heavy and emotional and so with this issue he allows for the audience to have a bit of fun. There are some fun Scooby Doo vibes in this issue as we are met with Pirates who have been risen fro m their graves almost like another pirate story..

Anyways, just because this issue is fun doesn’t mean there is not more to the story. Beneath the high seas and treacherous waves Jeremy is setting up the next big arc as Arthur’s daughter has her eyes on something and created this distraction. More so we get a taste of what is happening with Mera and Aquaman continues to deliver adventurous fun with bread crumbs laid about to have us continuing to come back.

The Art and Letters:

This issue, Rex, John, and Matt take us down a darker path with the artwork. The cover itself boasts a black and green stormy vibe with John leveraging Arthur’s suit to catch our eyes. Inside, the colors are still vibrant, but they use them in a way that matches the spooky vibe and setting that was set out to be captured. Rex and Matt detail each ghastly pirate in their own way, which left me lingering over them to take it all in. I’m loving how the use of water stands out in each panel, as they make it feel like the ocean is its own character as well.

Final Thoughts:

Aquaman #10 captures the Halloween episode that you would see in a cartoon perfectly. The team ensure we are able to catch our breath and have a bit of fun while also moving the plot forward and dropping hints at something bigger on the horizon.
