Catch up with Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #2 here!
This is a review by both Matt of the weekly pop-culture podcast Hops ‘Geek’ News and Megan of the non-toxic Marvel podcast Vigilante Vibes!
The Story
Matt – The team is together, and introductions aside, they are ready to put their plan into place! Unfortunately, there are still some snags that will need to be worked out, and I love how detailed the plan gets in this issue. This is not your ordinary heist, and Greg goes in-depth, showing how there is so much to this plan.
The group feeds off one another in fun and playful ways. Everybody seems to pair up, and we get to see them interact in various ways. Perhaps, though I relate far too much to the cat, which may just be emerging as my favorite character in this run so far!
Megan – With their new crew assembled, Cheetah and Cheshire are ready to put their ambitious heist into motion, targeting none other than the Justice League. Their freshly formed team brings a wide range of unique abilities to the table, and with any luck, it’ll be enough to take on the world’s greatest heroes and somehow infiltrate the Watchtower.
In Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #3, the duo begins to outline the daunting challenges their team must overcome to pull off the impossible. What already felt like a long shot now seems nearly hopeless. Not only do they need to bypass security systems tied to Justice League-specific key cards, but once inside the Watchtower, they’ll have to face the League themselves. Now more than ever, the team must prove they can work together and rise to the challenge.
Greg Rucka does an excellent job capturing the group’s dynamic, giving each character a moment to shine while pushing the story forward. I’m genuinely excited to see how they navigate the high-stakes break-in, and what unexpected twists their plan might face next. There’s no one better than Greg Rucka that can keep the excitement high while continuing the daunting energy that sits like a rain cloud overhead the story.
The Art
Matt – The art is continuing to stand out for me as this run has a lot of depth and detail in terms of the character variations and places we go. Whether we are having a roundtable discussion or off on an adventure to make the plan work, each character has their own presence to them, and the colors pop off the pages. The artwork felt movie-like as I had various heist film theme songs playing in my head as we saw them go to Ferris or the city streets. Scott and Kwok are absolutely killing it with this story!
Megan – Nicola Scott continues to impress with with her excellent talents used while handling the art of Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #3. Scott is able to make every character stand out in their own right with their own look, while not dulling any other characters in comparison. With the current team, we also get a few great looks at the Justice League themselves in powerful panels that make the threats to Cheetah and Cheshire’s plan feel very real.
Along with Nicola Scott, Annette Kwok joins her and handles the colors. Her work on the colors really brings a new depth to the story, as each page is hard to look away from. Both Scott and Kwok knocked it out of the park, yet again, with their work on Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League.
Overall Grade – 8.6/10
Matt – 9/10 – This story continues to unfold as it details the methodical heist, highlighting the dangers and hurdles that lie ahead. Unfortunately, this also means there is a potential traitor among them, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
Megan – 8.3/10 – I’m really enjoying myself with Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League and can’t wait to see what’s next with the heist!
