‘GEN V‘ from the world of ‘The Boys‘ comes back this Wednesday on Prime Video. The first 3 episodes for season 2 will drop, and then 1 a week thereafter with 8 total. These are my spoiler free thoughts on season 2.
However, there are spoilers for season 1 of ‘GEN V’ and season 4 of ‘The Boys.’ You’ve been warned.
Last Seen on GEN V & The Boys
There was a ton that previously happened, but here’s some highlights. Marie and her new college friends at Godolkin U discover that the Dean is part of an evil plan involving experimenting on supes. Her husband and son died on the plane that Homelander and Maeve let crash.
She’s determined to end Homelander and supes in general. The school is a front. A virus that will only kill supes has been created. However, these “college kids” suddenly go in different directions. Sam and Cate free the imprisoned supes, and they want to kill the humans. Meanwhile, Marie, Andre, Jordan, and Emma want to protect everyone.
We end with a blood bath at the school and an irritated Homelander calling Marie an animal for going against her own kind: supes. Last we saw Marie and friends, they were locked up in a room with no doors. However, Cate and Sam are regarded as the new Guardians of Godolkin. They are seen in ‘The Boys’ season 4. The virus is also very relevant in the last season of ‘The Boys.’ Victoria Neuman got her hands on it in ‘GEN V’ and later Billy killed her and took it. We wrap up season 4 of ‘The Boys’ with Cate and Sam helping to kidnap Frenchie and Kimiko, while Hughie and MM are taken as well by others.
GEN V Season 2 *** SPOILER FREE SEASON REVIEW ***
In true The Boys fashion, season 2 gives many fan-favorite moments. Fans get all the gore, unexpected twists, a lot of naked supes, and a puppet or two. Of course, it also came with a hell of a good story that dives deeper into the history of supes, Goldolkin U, and Vought. We also learn more about Marie, and her past. Which fills in more holes than I realized even existed.
Once again, a lot of the story is based around Godolkin U’s Dean. After Cate killed the last one, who helped make a supe virus happen, some changes had to be made. Including a new Dean: Dean Cipher. This Dean wants to make supes great. Mediocrity will be a thing of the past.
Honoring Chance
Chance Perdomo was set to return as Andre Anderson in ‘GEN V’ season 2. Sadly, he unexpectedly passed away & changes needed to be made. It was decided he would not be recast, so his death was written into the story. I feel that despite this being an incredibly gory and raunchy show, they honored Chance beautifully. He was not a one liner and move on. You felt the characters mourning his absence throughout the season. Especially Andre’s dad, Polarity, played by Sean Patrick Thomas. The emotions felt while watching certain scenes showed that Andre wasn’t the only one being mourned.

If you’re a fan of ‘The Boys’ and haven’t checked out ‘GEN V’ yet, you’re absolutely missing out. While season 1 seemed as if we just got nods and cameos from the main show, after ‘The Boys’ season 4, it can’t be denied these shows are becoming entangled. Even more so than Ezekiel in a threesome.
Season 2 of ‘GEN V’ is still absolutely it’s own show. It made the world seem bigger. ‘The Boys’ focuses primarily around The Seven. However the comics these shows are based on do not. ‘GEN V’ is giving us more of that while still keeping it all connected. This is in large part to the acting on the show. With the young cast involved, the series carries a different tone that is a nice compliment to this Vought world.
Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau fully embraces the spotlight for this season. Sinclair brings a strong presence to each scene she’s featured in. Even paired with other certain fan favorites, Marie’s journey overshadows even the brightest lights involved. Fans will be gravitating towards her path and all the insane directions it takes.

Check out my top 5 moments from Season 1.
One thing I have loved about this world is their ability to show the impossible. For example, Splinter’s sauna scene in season 4 of ‘The Boys’. That will forever be etched into my brain. Especially after watching 15 seasons of Supernatural (WARNING: Supernatural spoiler ahead) knowing that actor played God. “Gen V” season 2 features some of the most off the wall disgusting scenes that I never could have imagined. The writers make the over-the-top shocks more relevant.
Yet it wasn’t just for shocks and awes (that was only part of it). It gave Splinter pink eye, which helped the boys take him down. There were a couple moments in season 2 of ‘GEN V’ that I felt were a bit much, until they weren’t. Moments that made me cringe, and then go ooooh! That’s why they did that disgusting thing!
Overall Grade: 8.5/10
All in all, “Gen V” is a hell of a good time behind one impactful journey. Sinclair & company lock in the audience and never stop with the excitement. It mixes the drama with a lot of f***** up stuff. Once you start watching, you won’t want to stop! Fans had better buckle in for an unforgettable ride.
So, grab your Soldier Boy pillow, some Vought Burger, and a Jitter Bean coffee, and go enjoy season 2 of ‘GEN V’ this week. It’ll make you laugh, gasp, cry, cringe, and gag. What more could you want?
