The Story and Writing

The story of Titans 2025 Annual #1 is told from the perspective of Donna Troy, AKA Wonder Girl. In her dialogue, she’s speaking to her birth father, who she’s on the way to meet as she goes through her history of joining the Titans.

Donna takes us all the way from the fire that took the life of her mother, to her in current day, after becoming an Amazon hero who’s experienced heartache, loss, and love.

I really loved seeing her life story, especially when she’s found by Wonder Woman and taken to Themyscira and adopted by the Amazon warriors, becoming an Amazon princess.

Seeing Diana and Donna have their close sister relationship was a beautiful thing to see, especially when you get a good look at how close they truly are.

Phil Jimenez pulls at your heartstrings and has you see all of the incredible life experiences Donna has gone through that has lead her to becoming the powerful woman she is today.

Jimenez didn’t shy away from the particularly painful parts of her life, such as losing her child or experiencing her divorce. Instead, Donna’s story is told with grace and elegance, through the kind and thoughtful words of Wonder Girl.

The Art

Phil Jimenez also serves as the artist of Titans 2025 Annual #1 and truly captured the many tones of the comic with ease. Jimenez perfectly captured the emotions that came from Donna’s story through facial expressions, using an excellent amount of detail. Joining Jimenez for this comic is Arif Prianto, who handles the colors.

There were a lot of points that showcased Prianto’s talents, but I think it shined the brightest when the rest of the Titans members joined the story. We got treated to a full page work of art that showed each member of the Titans, and it was nothing short of stunning. Together, Prianto and Jimenez knocked it out of the park.

Final Thoughts

Titans 2025 Annual #1 was an emotional and beautifully written love letter to the character of Donna Troy. The creative team knocked it out of the park!
