The Story:
Jeremy is a wizard at pulling on our emotions, and it is on full display with this issue. We are introduced to Zan, who is a comedic relief for our adventurous squad and has a flame within that is full of fight. However, just as he riles us up, Jeremy rips our hearts out with a soul-crushing moment between Arthur and Mera. There is a twist in this issue that had never crossed my mind and hats off to Jeremy for wonderful story-telling that catches the reader off guard completely!
I must say my favorite thing with the lettering is how Dave changes up the lettering depending on who is talking. For example, Arion has a more ancient style of lettering that gives him his voice. It is those small details that add to the depth this run has.
The Art:
Michael and Rex continue to do so many magnificent things with the artwork that blow me away. The sea is often full of life and color to which these two do a great job of depicting. The range of emotions that Arthur goes through, as well, is detailed well by Michael. There is a scene where Dagon changes into a creature larger than life, and it is a frightening sequence setting up an even bigger battle in the final issue of this arc!
Final Thoughts:
Aquaman #7 sets us up heartbreakingly and powerfully as we prepare for the ultimate showdown between Arthur, Dagon, and a surprise entrant into the battle for Atlantis.
Overall Grade: 10/10
