First Look at the Megatron Story in Transformers #19 By Daniel Warren Johnson and Ludo Lullabi!
This April, the best-selling Energon Universe story begins its fourth arc!
Today, Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Hasbro, a leader in games, IP, and toys, unveiled the interior pages and variant cover lineup for Transformers #19, the acclaimed series that has won two Eisner Awards. The issue features a story by writer Daniel Warren Johnson (known for Extremity and Do a Powerbomb), with guest artist Ludo Lullabi (Battle Chasers) and guest colorist Adriano Lucas (Destro).
Transformers #19 kicks off the fourth story arc in the epic Energon Universe series, offering a standalone and unforgettable tale centered on Megatron. This highly anticipated issue will hit comic book shops on April 9, 2025.

“When Daniel pitched the idea for this story, I knew we’d be bringing in a special artist for it, and Ludo Lullabi was the first name that came to mind,” commented Executive Editor, Ben Abernathy. “Loving his work from World of Warcraft and Battle Chasers, his kinetic storytelling and attention to detail were a perfect fit for a Megatron-centric story.”
Alongside the main cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and series colorist Mike Spicer, Transformers #19 features a range of variant covers, including an open-to-order cover B by series artist Jorge Corona and Mike Spicer. Additional variants include a 1:10 incentive cover, which kicks off a new connecting cover series by David Nakayama, a 1:25 incentive variant by cover artist Steve Beach, a 1:50 incentive variant by Frédéric Pham Chuong, a 1:100 incentive variant by guest artist Ludo Lullabi and guest colorist Adriano Lucas, and a blank sketch cover.
Transformers is the cornerstone of the Energon Universe, the flagship collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound, marking the dawn of a new era for the Transformers and G.I. JOE franchises within a shared comic book universe. Other Energon Universe titles include the ongoing series Void Rivals by writer Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead), artist Lorenzo De Felici (Kroma), and colorist Patricio Delpeche (The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country), as well as G.I.
