The Story
Luke Cage has been through so much, and with everything he’s experienced, he now finds himself in present day Marvel as Power Man. Power Man has all of the incredible powers we know and love such as the powers of Iron Fist, Sentry, and the Hulk. But how will he use his powers in this new time, in the present day? Well, Power Man says he will find his best friend, Danny Rand, but it seems he’s too late as Rand is dead. Now that he’s completely alone, he needs a plan. That’s when he hears it; “help me”.
Jumping into action as the hero he is, he follows the voice, but whoever called out for help flies away. As Power Man tries to follow the victim, he’s sucker punched out of nowhere by an unknown enemy named Aeon the Knife. Aeon has no rhyme or reason to attack Power Man other than the simple fact that he can. Power Man is more than ready to fight but against a foe that he can’t beat? It’s time to put these new powers to use.
As it turns out, this isn’t the only battle he will be facing, as Power Man has been asked an impossible task by someone in desperate need of help.
The Writing
I found Power Man: Timeless #1 to be a pretty strong start that kept me hooked into the story. Luke Cage is always an interesting character to read, but Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly keep you wanting to read more and more. The comic has an err of mystery looming throughout the read, which keeps you on your toes. I’m really interested to see what happens next as so much happened in this first installment, I can’t wrap my head around what could possibly happy next.
The Art
Bernard Chang does an incredible job with the art in Power Man: Timeless #1 as I think he really brought the story to life. With such a great amount of attention paid to the details, you can really feel the depth he brought to the story. With Chang’s drawing talent matched with Marcelo Maiolo’s coloring talent, this was sure to be something stunning to look at. I think both of their talents really showed in the fight scenes between Aeon and Power Man.
Overall Grade – 8.9/10
