Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! And this week I’m going to be reviewing the sixth issue in The Ultimates series from Deniz Camp & Marvel!

This issue is without a doubt, one of the craziest issues I’ve read in quite sometime. And that goes for Marvel, Star Wars, Dark Horse, DC, etc. This issue is going to be a landmark moment for the series.

It is one that will be looked on as a seminal (and pivotal) moment in the series. I’m not going to reveal TOO much of the story. Why? It’s because this is ABSOLUTELY one you need to read on your own. So let’s not tease this and more, and jump right into it!

The Ultimates #6 by Deniz Camp (writer), Juan Frigeri (artist), Federico Blee (color artist), VC’s Travis Lanham (letterer), Dike Ruan & Neeraj Menon (cover artists) is one of the best issues I’ve ever read in my entire life. PERIOD. It’s going to go down as one of the memorable issues of the series. Issue #6 is one that will ultimately signal a shift in things for not only the series, but the entire universe.

Deniz Camp pulls no punches in this issue, and it’s an action packed issue from start to finish. Tony Stark has called together The Ultimates for the first time ever, and they’re on a rescue mission. The Human Torch, Sif, Thor, Captain America, Wasp, Giant-Man, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, America Chavez & Doom are on a rescue mission to save prisoners from a Damage Control black site.

DON’T MISS THE TOP 10!

After they break into the black site they’re very quickly met by none other than The Hulk himself. This is NOT the Hulk you’re used to. This isn’t the brute Hulk that’s all muscle, and it isn’t Professor Hulk. It’s a zen-like Hulk that asks the Ultimates if they want a cup of tea upon entry. What follows is a battle for the ages between the Ultimates & what’s named “The Immortal Weapons of Hulk”.

To top it all off, it appears that The Hulk in this universe has gained the power of the Iron Fist! I could be wrong, but he hits She-Hulk with a “Atomic Iron Fist” and a “2x Atomic Iron Fist” so I feel pretty confident in making that assessment.

The thing that makes this issue great is that we have no idea what’s going to happen and nothing is playing out as you might expect it. When you look at the makeup of the heroes it’s a formidable lineup just based on names alone. But as is often the case things don’t play out the way you might expect it.

I don’t want to go into any further spoilers because as I said before, you NEED to read this issue and experience this story for yourself. But I will say that this issue is the most shocking ones that I’ve ever read in my entire life. It’s going to be interesting to see where things go from here, because for so many issues things seemed to be trending in one direction. But now? Anything is possible.

FINAL POINT: This issue is one of the most earthshattering issues Marvel has done in recent memory. It stands out as a pivotal one that will change the entire universe moving forward. Because what may have seemed like a near certainty for the heroes is now as far away from that as it can be. Will they be able to recover, or is it all over? Only time will tell, but this series is CAN’T MISS going forward.

SCORE: 10 out of 10
