X-Men everywhere! It’s like every time we turn around, we’re getting some kind of excellent mutant content! So many different stories of our favorite mutants are coming out whether it be in a television series or a comic book. I hope this continues because my nerdy heart is happy and content.

The Third Installment

X-Men: Forever #3 maintains the momentum established in the preceding issues, as the conflict in the war in Krakoa rages onward. This third issue introduces beloved mutants joining the fray, adding depth to the battle. My excitement doubled as Nightcrawler appeared, accompanied not only by himself but also by Mystique, igniting anticipation for the events that are about to unfold.

These two characters didn’t just bring the firepower to the Krakoa battle; they also infused it with deep emotion. Witnessing the reunion of Destiny, Mystique, and Kurt (Nightcrawler) in X-Men: Forever #3 added multiple layers of feeling to the comic book, creating a poignant and impactful conversation between them. I appreciate that we get to see these characters so vulnerable whilst remaining strong for all of the destruction happening around them.

X-Men: Forever #3 wasn’t just about Destiny, Mystique, and Kurt; that’s just the parts I loved the most. You also get to see some great action from other mutants! Sebastian Shaw, Hope Summers, and Cypher to name a few. The third installment ends on a very interesting cliffhanger that has me going nuts with anticipation on what chaos is going to unfold in the next issue.

What I Thought As A Whole

I think the writing of the X-Men Forever #3 fits very well into the run. While this was an emotional issue with plenty of action, there also was a few funny moments intertwined. The comic does a great job at blending all of these elements together in a way that doesn’t feel forced, but flows nicely. The writer, Kieron Gillen, does a fantastic job at giving each mutant their own chance to shine without dulling the other’s around them.

The artwork is spectacular, which isn’t surprising just by looking at the cover art. Every panel is drenched in colors that contrast so perfectly, you could get lost in looking at each page with admiration. A character that I think stands out the most is Mystique. She easily ate every scene she was in and left no crumbs. She is drawn with such a beauty while somehow still showing that she is a force of nature that isn’t to be messed with.
