READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW!
Art:
This entire issue is filled with glorious action sequences throughout. The sequence of Red Guardian diving into a hole full of laser fire is just one example of just how stunning this issue is. It is followed up with a shot of Skull sitting on a haunting throne, showcasing the range these artists are working within all their glory. The final shot with the many photos scattered on the table leaves us salivating at the thought of what more this team could accomplish.
Writing:
Red Guardian asking to wake him up when it’s time for a beer? Say no more; that line hooked me as if I was not already. The Hivemind again has done magic in the form of getting us to root for people like U.S Agent and how we can all agree on punching Nazis. The finale has an emotional moment that hits as Bucky has clearly learned from Steve how to become a leader, and the team shows him they will follow him no matter the cost.
Overall:
Four issues was not enough with this version of Thunderbolts. The way they came together as a team and the mixture of intense action sequences and beautiful, emotional beats fills us with an immense amount of joy. I sincerely hope we can get more from this squad in the future as many tales are yet to be told.
10/10 Cigars.
