The Tides of War have reached Atlantis! Black Manta, Siren, Ocean Master, and more have put together a deadly team hell-bent on destroying Aquaman and everything he holds dear.

Creative Team: Jeremy Adams, John Timms, Rex Lokus, Dave Sharpe, and Mark Spears.
The Story:
After much teasing and building up the anticipation, the war has arrived, and all hell has broken loose in Atlantis! Adams does an incredible job of bringing together so many characters and so much action without ever feeling as though he is cramming too much into one issue. There are some excellent quips, and each character is allowed to have their moment. Which I love. Captain Nemo has become a staple in this run and doesn’t appear to be leaving anytime soon either. The fighting is well scripted and paced out, and there is a surprise character appearance, which has me needing answers right away. I cannot wait to see how the war for the seas unfolds and who we will see come to the aid of Atlantis because I know Adams has some tricks up his sleeve.
The Art:
There is a lot happening visually in this issue, and it showcases the immense talent that Timms and Lokus have, respectively. Timms is fitting a lot of detail and action within the panels and yet does it in such a way that both allows for powerful fight sequences that also don’t come across over packed. Mixed into the action is an array of colors, with everyone having their skill sets shown off and put to use. It’s a feast of the rainbow from Lokus, who matches John’s energy and detail level, with the two being in sync tremendously. Sharpe’s lettering flows from whimpers of defeat to snake-like tongues giving life to the variations of creatures and characters showcased throughout this battle.
Final Thoughts:
The war that was promised has finally come, and it delivers in a bold and mighty way. The fight for Atlantis has only just begun, but it isn’t looking good for our heroes, who have overcome so much so far. I am sat and ready for what’s coming next as this team continues to elevate this run with each issue.
Overall Grade: 9.3/10
