Gamescom kicked off this year’s event in Cologne, Germany today with its traditional Opening Night Live. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, this two hour livestream brought us new game reveals, release date announcements, and news on some of the biggest games coming this year.
Here’s everything we learned.
Nodus Fall
Hoyoverse, known primarily for Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, surprised fans by announcing Nodus Fall, an original co-op action game set in a world besieged by chaos, where players take on the role of “weavers” and use divine powers to conquer mystical beasts.
Rainbow Six Tactics
Ubisoft announced the next installment in the Rainbow Six franchise – Rainbow Six Tactics. As a single-player, turn-based strategy game, Tactics puts you in control of a team of operators as you complete missions, upgrade your HQ, and unlock new skills.

Gears of War: E-Day
Just over a month from release, Xbox revealed the official campaign trailer for Gears of War: E-Day. Set fourteen years before the original game, E-Day follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in a brutal campaign against the Locust Horde.

Ananta
Ananta, the free-to-play open-world RPG, finally got a release date announcement at Gamescom. Set in Nova City, you play as the new leader of a special task force who balances everyday life and battling strange anomalies.

Silent Hill: Townfall
Launching in just under a month, the newest installment of Silent Hill revealed it’s main cast during Opening Night Live. Jovan Adepo (3 Body Problem, IT: Welcome to Derry, The Odyssey) plays Simon. Kezia Burrows (Observation) plays Zoe, and Terry O’Quinn (Lost, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live) plays Richard.

Sea of Remnants
We got a new look at Sea of Remnants, an upcoming RPG where you take on the mantle of ship captain and lead your crew towards adventure on the high seas.
Crimson Desert Enhanced
Crimson Desert is getting a massive title update, including new story beats, expanded VO, and expanded language support. Developer Pearl Abyss announced a 20% off sale for those who haven’t yet picked up the game.
Crimson Desert is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows, and Mac.
Tides of Annihilation
Eclipse Glow Games gave us our first story trailer for the upcoming Tides of Annihilation, complete with the reveal of Angela Sant’Albano (Resident Evil Requiem) as the voice of Gwendolyn. Based on Arthurian legend, this game allows you to summon spectral forms of the Knights of the Round Table to help discover long-buried secrets.
Lofsöng
One of the new games revealed at ONL was Lofsöng, an exploration adventure game where players are guided by sound and resonance through a haunting brutalist world.
Mega Man: Dual Override
Fresh off the announcement earlier this year, CapCom gave us our first look at Mega Man: Dual Override. Mega Man and Proto Man team up in this new installment of the classic franchise, working together to restore peace from the robots rampaging the city.

Rayman Legends Retold
Ubisoft gave fans a new look at the Rayman Legends remake coming later this year with the official gameplay reveal of the Macarena musical level.

PUBG: DED.NET
From PUBG Studios comes PUBG: DED.NET, a first-person multiplayer shooter with a rougelite progression system that allows players to upgrade between each run.
Once Human
Originally released in 2024, the free-to-play open-world multiplayer survival game is finally available on console, with cross-platform support.
CONTROL Resonant
Arguably one of the most anticipated games for the remainder of the year, Remedy Entertainment gave fans a new look at the upcoming CONTROL Resonant, where Dylan Faden must work to save his sister and regain his humanity.

The Blood of Dawnwalker
Described as a “Vampire RPG”, The Blood of Dawnwalker released it’s launch trailer just ahead of its release next month.

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
Can’t wait for the next season of House of the Dragon for more Game of Thrones content? You’re in luck. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is a real time strategy game developed by Playside Studios. Fight alongside recognizable characters from the hit HBO show as you battle.

Dust: Origins
From the creators of Darksiders, Dust: Origins is a newly announced isometric horror shooter set aboard a doomed orbital prison, where you fight to escape violent criminals and monsters.
EXODUS
Developed by a team of veterans behind Mass Effect, Baldur’s Gate, and Star Wars: KOTOR, EXODUS is a new single player action RPG set in a new sci-fi universe. Team up with characters like Salt, a deadly, intelligent octopus as you explore new worlds, fight enemies, and reshape civilization.

Warlock: Dungeons and Dragons
Wizards of the Coast and Invoke Studios dropped official gameplay footage for Warlock, a third person dark fantasy game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons.

1001 Threads of Mizan
Inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, 1001 Threads of Mizan is a newly announced 1-3 player co-op adventure game set in an Arabian fantasy world.
Silver Palace
Silver Palace is an upcoming anime-inspired RPG set in a Victorian-themed city where you work to solve.
Monster Hunter Outlanders
The latest mobile game in the Monster Hunter franchise, fans got a new look at the Rugar Aidal monster during ONL.
Metro 2039
4A Games revealed the second gameplay trailer for the upcoming Metro 2039. The trailer gives another look at the game’s protagonist, as well as a look at mechanics, weaponry, and combat.

Hitman: World of Assassination
The world of Hitman has it’s new elusive target: Snoop Dogg. Players can work to bring down Dr. Cyrus Cane with his own medicine when the free mission drops this week.

Aion 2
The next-gen MMORPG got a new trailer. Players can customize characters, collect pets, and compete in both PvP and PvE gameplay

Paradox Interactive announced their new game Afterworld. Set in a post-apocalyptic America, Afterworld lets you build settlements, wage wars, and create your own empire.
Petit Planet
From developer Hoyoverse comes Petit Planet, an upcoming free to play cozy life simulator with cross-platform support. Fans got a special new look at the game, as well as a release window.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 released today, and fans got a new launch trailer to get them excited.

1666 Amsterdam
Panache Digital Games has given fans a new look at 1666 Amsterdam, just in time for the game to release into Early Access. Players use witchcraft to uncover demonic entities hiding in plain sight.

Showa American Story
NEKCOM Games debuted the first in game trailer for Showa American Story, a brand new RPG set in an alternate world where Japan culturally colonized America in the 1980s.
Road Kings
Road Kings, the upcoming truck driving game from Focus Entertainment, got an official release date announcement during ONL.

Stage Tour
Do you long for the days of endlessly trying to perfect a song on Guitar Hero or Rock Band? You’re in luck – Stage Tour releases just in time for Christmas this year. Featuring over 90 songs from artists like Metallica, blink-182, Radiohead, and Olivia Rodrigo, the game also comes with exclusive hardware including a guitar, drum set, and microphone.

Turok: Origins
Players got a brand new look at the story of the upcoming Turok: Origins. Battle dinosaurs, aliens, and more using futuristic weapons and Turok powers as you explore the Lost Lands alone or with friends.
Gravhounds
From Octopus Panic, a team made up of former Halo and Battlefield developers, comes Gravhounds. Play in groups of 1-4 people as you take on the role of a pack of dogs in this action builder. Drop into planets, build your base, and leave with materials before the aliens get you.
LEGO Skylines
LEGO Skylines is an upcoming cozy city builder that will allow players to use LEGO to build the city of their dreams.
Transport Fever 3
The team behind Transport Fever 3 gifted fans with the official release date of the upcoming transport tycoon game.

There Are No Ghosts at the Grand
Billy Boyd (The Lord of the Rings) joins the voice cast of the upcoming There Are No Ghosts at the Grand. Part renovation game, part ghost hunting game, players decorate by day and hunt spirits by night.

Roco Kingdom
Already a beloved franchise in China, this cozy creature collector is officially going global when the closed beta test launches this Fall.

Live or Die is a team-based survival FPS game where streamers fight for survival.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation
The third and final installment of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy got a brand new trailer at Gamescom.

and finally…
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
It’s been over a decade since CD Projekt Red released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and they closed out ONL this year by announcing a full remaster of the game releasing next month. The remaster includes upgraded graphics, a revamped skill tree, new finishing moves, enhanced monster behaviors, and more. The remaster will release as a free upgrade to current owners and includes both the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions.
CD Projekt Red also announced a brand new expansion for the game titled Songs of the Past.
