MAPPA Unveils “Chainsaw Man” Season 2 Trailer

Published:

Earlier this week, anime studio MAPPA held their 15th anniversary event. As part of this event, they unveiled several trailers and announcements for upcoming anime and games. One such announcement was the trailer for the highly anticipated season 2 of “Chainsaw Man”. Coming hot off the heels of last year’s highly successful “Reze Arc” film, season two looks to cover the much loved “International Assassins Arc”.

For those who don’t know, this is arguably one of, if not the most dark arc(s) of the “Chainsaw Man” story. If you’ve seen the MCU Spider-Man movies, then the story of this arc will sound slightly familiar at first glance. Following the events of the aforementioned “Reze Arc”, “International Assassins” follows up on Denji, finding out his fight has been broadcast to the world and that assassins from the around the globe are now after him. This arc will introduce anime viewers to several beloved characters and moments from the franchise including Power crashing Kobeni’s car, Santa Claus (no, not that one), and one of my personal favorites, Cosmo.

Since the “International Assassins Arc” only covers seventeen chapters of the manga, it’s currently unclear if the next season will also include the “Gun Devil Arc”. For comparison, season 1 managed to cover the first four arcs of the manga, which was roughly 38 chapters in total. This doesn’t include the aforementioned “Reze Arc” film as that was a standalone between seasons, adapting the “Bomb Girl Arc” of the manga. If it is a part of season 2’s shenanigans, be sure to have a box of tissues at the ready! In fact, it may be good to have that box anyway as the season will be an emotional rollercoaster regardless.
