The Story

*Spoiler Free*

Vasilis Meyer lived a pretty normal life. He had a job, hangs out with his friends, and was close with his family. Things were all as they were supposed to be in the life of an average man, until they weren’t. One day, when he’s visiting his grandparents, he finds a talisman that was said to be a momento from his grandparents’ honeymoon. Thinking nothing of it, he sticks it in his pocket and continues helping his grandparents clean up. What he doesn’t know is that this isn’t just any ordinary talisman, but something far bigger than he can imagine. Created by the gods themselves, this magical object is the thing that’s going to change his life forever.

Paul Eza continues the harrowing story of Vasilis, giving us more insight into who he is as a character. there’s many changes that the readers see happen with Vasilis, with him having to begrudgingly accept his new life. We get a good look at his dynamics with his friends, and how hard it is on him to leave them in the dark.

Seeing how important his normal life is to him, and seeing how otherworldly this new life is, it was fascinating to see him work through the emotions of the unknown. Besides the changes of Vasilis, we get to learn more about the talisman itself and the powerful backstory behind it! That was the part I was most excited for when reading the second issue, and I have to say that Eza absolutely exceeded my expectations.

The Art

Dee Fish and Ibrahim Aydin ensure that The Olympian #2 continues the high quality of the first issue, while giving it a more larger than life feel. I think the illustrations shine the brightest when were given a backstory on the talisman, giving us our first look at some pretty iconic characters.

Dee Fish puts you in a headspace that you’re amongst the gods in the storytelling, allowing you to experience the story even better with their artwork. With some excellent shading work, each page is impactful and full of depth. The lettering perfectly captures the tones of the story, working perfectly well off of the character’s facial expressions. All in all, the artists really worked off of the story extremely well, bringing the fantastic story to life.

Final Thoughts

The creative team continue to impress with the second issue of The Olympian! The story is heating up and has fantastic artwork that brings the excitement to life. I cannot recommend this run enough!
