Marvel Comics revealed new details for an upcoming Fantastic Four one-shot.
Fantastic Four: First Foes- Shalla-Bal is coming out this June. This is going to be following the release of Fantastic Four: First Foes #1 later this month on March 25th. This book’s creative team includes:
- Writer: Dan Slott
- Artist: Mark Buckingham
- Colorist: Mark Buckingham
- Letterer: VC’s Joe Caramagna

That one-shot’s full description reads:
“FROM THE WORLD OF THE CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE!
Return to the universe of the legendary film in the first of a series of specials!! On Earth-828, a cosmic mishap has transformed four brave astronauts into the world’s champions and protectors. They are the Fantastic Four – but one person isn’t happy about things. He’s known as the Mad Thinker, and he’s determined to get his proper due by turning the city of tomorrow against its heroic patrons!”
Meanwhile, Fantastic Four: First Foes- Shalla-Bal is following the origins of Julia Garner’s villain from the film. Writer Charles Soule and Artist Mark Buckingham are on this project, and the book’s full description reads:
“THE ORIGINS OF SHALLA-BAL!
Years ago, in order to save her planet, astronomer Shalla-Bal gave up her freedom to become the sustenance-seeking Herald of the intergalactic Devourer of Worlds, Galactus! Now, for the first time, learn the secrets of her transformation, her journey and the horrifying decisions that she had to make!”

Mark Buckingham had this to say about the new book:
“Already spoiled rotten to have had superstar writers Matt Fraction and Dan Slott collaborate with me on this Fantastic Four series, I was over the moon to discover I’d be joined by the incredible Charles Soule for this next installment! And over the moon, and far into deep space, is where we are going. To glimpse a dramatic and heart breaking tale from Shalla-Bal’s past, beautifully written by Charles, that takes place prior to the events in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It continues to be a delight and utter joy to draw this book, and to have a whole issue to indulge in my love for the Silver Surfer, especially after seeing Shalla-Bal so exquisitely brought to life in the film. I’ve loved bringing the magic of the early FF stories and Marvel Studios’ movie together and delving deeper into the universe of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.”
Fantastic Four: First Foes- Shalla-Bal releases on June 10th.
