MARVEL ZOMBIES RED BAND #5: Death Becomes Knull!

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

The Story:

Sticking the landing is perhaps the hardest part of any story, if anybody knows how to properly end a story it is Griffin and Ethan! They do not disappoint, as Peter is the lone remaining survivor and is fighting until his last breath to cure our fellow heroes turned undead. I loved the relationship between Parker and Ultron, as even though Ultron is a robot, Peter still treats him as a human being and friend. Knull is a terrifying entity, and his entrance was every bit as incredible as it should have been. The duo writes up a fun battle and even gives us an unsuspecting surprise, bringing Jean and her Phoenix powers back, ending this run on a glimmer of hope and the thought of a bright future ahead.

The Art and Letters:

Knull’s entrance was drawn up beautifully as the reader truly feels his power radiating from the pages. The gritty details and even the all-black coloring of his body strike home in contrast to the dying city below. The way the team managed to make us feel emotional when Ultron was violently ripped in half is proof of how well-detailed this book is. Hats off to them for nailing every moment and allowing these epic moments time to breathe in their panels and pages, and letting them sink in for the reader.

Final Thoughts:

Marvel Zombies Red Band #5 is the culmination of a fantastic take on the beloved zombies franchise. The ending hits incredibly hard and fills us with a glimmer of much-needed hope after an intense flurry of action. This will be a run that will go down as one of the greats for the Marvel Zombies lore!
