The Story

Matt – This felt like a classic mix between Dragon Ball and WWE of the old days. I am a sucker for wrestling, and so I instantly planted myself in Kyle’s shoes as he is sucked into the world of nowhere but also everywhere at the same time. Jeremy keeps this issue fun and light, advances the K.O. storyline along as Darkseid is calling his armies into play as the end draws near with this tournament. The best part about this issue was the cheesy names and the classic wrestling moves, such as the pile driver or (tombstone if you’re Undertaker). All in all, this was an excellent read, and I love the tag team of poor man’s Hogan with Kyle.

Megan – As someone who’s a big fighting fan, I really found enjoyment throughout the comic. The dialogue was a lot of fun, especially coming from Omega-Bam-Man, who has the uncanny ability to put the word “bro” into most any word. The team up between Omega-Bam-Man and Kyle is a team up that you’d never see coming and should absolutely not work, but somehow it does. Kyle, lacking in confidence, and Omega-Bam-Man oozing in cockiness, both balance each other out really nicely.

Jeremy Adams brings a fun and lighter story to the powerful event of DC K.O. which was a breath of fresh air after all the heavy stuff. There were moments in the dialogue that I actually laughed throughout the read! The storyline goes a lot of different directions in the best way, and brings it all together in the end. Whether it be the backstory of Omega-Bam-Man or the treacherous return of a character in the story, Adams ensures that you’re always having fun reading the story.

The Art

Matt – There are so many bright and flashy colors as this issue cranks the action up to 11. Panel to panel, we see intense wrestling take place with heavy blows and colorful costumes. They lean into the hilarity of wrestling, especially in Kyles Lucha inspired design that was perhaps my favorite of this short-lived universe.

Megan – Omega-Bam-Man is the vibrant focal point throughout the comic, which only adds to his loud cockiness. Contrasting Omega-Bam-Man, Kyle is more muted, which mimics his personality in the story. There’s an excellent use of details throughout the comic, making the action panels feel like you’re right in the middle of it all. The lettering brings a perfect flow of dialogue throughout the comic, keeping the tone steady.

Final Thoughts

Matt – 9.5/10. DC K.O. Green Lantern Galactic Slam is equally entertaining and introduces new chess pieces to the board as we prepare for a massive final battle with Darkseid and his army. The story is hilarious as Jeremy captures the spirit, and the art team brings the heat in terms of colors, detail, and action!

Megan – 8.5/10. This was such a fun addition to DC K.O. and it’s all thanks to the creative team!

Overall Grade – 9/10
