Fallout: Season 1 Recap- Welcome To The Wasteland

Okay vault dwellers, it’s time to dive back into the world of Fallout. With season two now being changed to December 16th, it is time to go over season one. In the first season, there is a ton of world-building, fully flushed out characters, and a ton of twists and turns.

Episodes 1-3

As the viewer, we meet a cowboy named Cooper Howard. He performs at a birthday party, and he also has a young daughter. In the midst of the party, there are some nukes that start to fall, and everyone scatters. Cooper ends up going on a horse with his daughter, and riding away from the danger. It is also the first time that his daughter, also did the thumbs up that is iconic in the Fallout series.

We then meet Lucy, who is in Vault 32, and we meet her brother and her dad Hank. Lucy has never left the vault, but when things take a turn for the worst, she has to go and find her father outside of the vault. During these episodes, we also meet Maximus of the Brotherhood of Steel, who loves the T-60 armor.

A group of bounty hunters dig up the ghoul, and the ghoul ends up killing them. It seems that he has his own mission. Episode two focuses on dogs being trained in a lab. This is a man called Wilzig, and he ends up keeping one of the dogs. Wilzig injects himself with a blue serum. In another scene Maximus is traveling with King Titus, and they both are attacked by a bear. Titus is killed, and claims the T-60 armor.

Lucy arrives in the settlement of Filly, where Wilzig and The Ghoul also converge. The Ghoul attacks, trying to claim bounty. The Ghoul nearly kills Lucy, and Maximus saves her. It shows a different side of Maximus. Wilzig gets hurt and is dying, and tells Lucy the real prize is his head. He tells Lucy to cut off his head, and take it. The episode ends with Lucy using the chainsaw to do just that.

Episode 4-6

In episode 4, Ghoul marches Lucy through the Wasteland. The Ghoul visits an old friend, Roger, who is about to turn feral because the chems are running out. The Ghoul ends up killing Roger, and started to eat Roger’s corpse. Lucy is disgusted. Later on, Lucy has to make a decision to drink radioactive water, because she hasn’t had water in so long. She fights The Ghoul, and bites his finger off. In retaliation, The Ghoul cuts Lucy’s finger off. The two of them end up meeting “Snip Snip”, and he ends up replacing Lucy’s finger. Snip Snip’s real intention was to harvest Lucy’s organs.

In episode 5, Lucy lets out Maximus and they begin their journey traveling. Together, Lucy finds out that they dropped a bomb on Shady Sands after the E day event. Maximus talks about his parents, and is saddened by the way Shady Sands looks now.

Episode 6, Lucy and Maximus wake up in vault 4. Cooper’s friend, Charlie Whiteknife, tells cooper about these meetings where they discuss how evil vault tech is. Meanwhile, Maximus has a hot shower and experiences modern comfort for the first time. In a flashback, we also see that Cooper does go to a meeting about Vault Tech. Vault 4, does a cult-like practice for Shady Sands praying to Moldaver.

Episode 7, opens with The Ghoul interrogating a family, and findout that Moldaver is at the observatory in LA. Lucy finds out that the scientist in vote for were experimenting on humans and mashing them with radioactive resistant species. Vault 4 does another ritual looking like they are trying to kill Lucy. Instead, it’s an elaborate plan to set her up to live in the wild.

Episode 8, Maximus is brought back to the Brotherhood of Steel base. He presents the head to Elder Cleric Quintus. He’s going to execute Maximus, but his friend Dane sticks up for him. Elder Cleric tells Maximus he will lead the new Brotherhood. Lucy makes it to the observatory with the actual head. Moldaver invites Lucy to eat with her, while a ghoul sits at the table and her dad in a call. We flash back to Coop drop off his wife to work. Norm runs into a brain, who controls Vault 31. Cooper hears his wife, a part of the vault tech executives talking about nuking people to get them into vaults. Cooper meets Lucy’s Dad, Hank MacLean.
