The Story
On his way to stop a Shadow attack, his ship, the Starstrider, is attacked. To avoid losing the Starstrider or Alfred to the prehistoric looking creatures, Bruce takes it upon himself to go to the seemingly uninhabitable planet himself. With muttering “become the night” to himself, he transforms into the Immortal Legend Batman gear and makes his way to landing on the planet. Once he’s there, Bruce realizes something feels very off about this place. Bruce is unable to sense the Shadow forms because something is blocking him, and he isn’t able to understand what it is. Stating to Alfred that he will just do it the old fashion way, Bruce sets off to find this Shadow form.

Almost immediately, he is attacked by a monstrous creature that makes it extremely clear to Bruce that this planet isn’t safe. Every part of this planet is a poisonous threat to him, and the Shadow form he’s searching for makes that very clear.
The Writing
Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom continue the thrilling story of Immortal Legend Batman and uses the fourth issue to show a more vulnerable state of the hero. With a poison slowing killing him, and not being able to trust anything around him, including Alfred, Bruce is shown in his most challenging position he’s been in so far. Along with the poisonous conundrum he’s gotten himself in, there’s also a heart to heart moment Bruce has with the other Immortal Legends that makes me very excited to see what’s in store for us in the next issue.
The Art
The artwork continues to impress in Immortal Legend Batman that keeps your eyes glued to every page during the read. There’s one page in particular that gives a full page look at Bruce’s transition into Immortal Legend Batman that’s nothing short of stunning.
The artists of the comic go out of their way to include a beautiful amount of details in each and every panel, accompanied by bright vibrancy that gives the book the otherworldly energy that goes with story. Along with the artwork, I think the lettering talents are on full display in Immortal Legend Batman. Not only can you feel the struggle of Bruce in his words when he’s poisoned and out of sorts, but the rest of the emotions of the comic are shown perfectly well through the words.
Erica D’Urso, Dan Mora, Igor Monti, and Tamra Bonvillain have once again showcased their incredible talents in Immortal Legend Batman and I look forward to seeing what they bring in the next issue!
Final Thoughts
Immortal Legend Batman #4 continues the exciting and compelling venture of Bruce in this new world of the Immortal Legends. What I love is that it’s so different from the Batman we all know, but there’s still the classic Bruce Wayne in the heart of it all.
Overall Grade – 9/10
