PREDATOR BADLANDS #1:
Predator Badlands #1 coincides with the release of the film in theaters and really dives deep into the mythology of the Predators, known on their homeland as the Yautja.
These explorers and hunters track down dangerous creatures for sport as we’ve seen in the films to date. Their technology and training is unmatched to the degree that they are almost unbeatable.
This book ends right as the new film begins!

Creative Team:
WRITER: Ethan Sacks
Artists: Elvin Ching and Oren Junior
Color Artists: Juancho Velez
Letters: VC’s Clayton Cowles
Publisher: MARVEL COMICS
The Art:
Ching and Junior pair up here with pencils and inks to create something truly fascinating.
The art moves fast much like the Predators and really shows the action of the hunt.
The coolest part of seeing a comic adaptation of Predator is how you see so much more here than you would in a series or film.
A young Predator taking off his helmet, seeking to make his father proud, the grit and determination on his face. These are all tiny aspects that make the book so rich in lore.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #14 – WHAT IN THE WORLD IS HAPPENING NOW?
The Writing:
It must be an honor to add to the Predator story and Sacks really takes this challenge head on.
Like I mentioned earlier, the little descriptive details of the Predators and their history really make this book sing.
Also the underlying story of the young warrior ignoring the rules his big brother put forth in order to make his father proud and earn his cloak are some of the best backstory you could create in this situation.
The battle you get to witness, coupled with the undying will of both parties, in the later parts of the book are nothing short of epic.
And don’t get me started on the relationship between the brothers and their father!
Overall Grade: 9.0/10
This is simply a fun and incredibly exciting way to learn more about the Predator lore, while setting up the events of the movie. The action is non-stop and the will to fulfill one’s mission is embedded in the DNA of this book. If you are even remotely a fan of Predator, this is a must pull!!
