From the world of ‘The Boys,’ ‘GEN V‘ season 2 continues to go hard! With only 2 episodes left things are spiraling all over the place. Episode 6 just dropped and we kicked off with a big ‘Oh yea!’
WARNING: There are no spoilers for episode 6, however, there are plenty for any past episodes.
Last Seen on ‘Gen V’
Last we saw the most popular students at Godolkin U, they had got themselves thrown back into Elmira. After trying to expose Dean Cipher for not having V in his blood he locked Cate up. A failed prison break got Jordan, Marie, and Emma locked up right along side her.
While they failed to bust out “weird Barbie” together they managed to escape their cages. However, after Marie sees her long lost sister there, the escape takes a detour. Annabeth lays dead on the floor, so Marie flexes her powers to the max, and brings her back.
We also learn Sister Sage is having creepy relations with Cipher, Polarity had another seizure, and Sam‘s parents genuinely missed him. Something he needed to hear more than anything.

‘GEN V’ Season 2 Episode 6: “Cooking Lessons”
With Annabeth now joining in on the chaos, while simultaneously freaking out, they manage an escape. Only to then be forced to hide. Once safe, Annabeth and Marie catch up. It’s not all butterflies and rainbows, but it’s more than Marie expected. The news of their escape gives us another look behind the curtain that is Dean Cipher. Always calm and collected until he isn’t. His obsession with Marie grows, and we learn more about both their pasts.
Little Cricket has the biggest presence
Lizzie Broadway, as Emma adds so much to every scene she is in. Not only does she bring a level of comedy, she also manages to make the show more grounded. We never get unnecessary drama from her, or any sort of college age kid trope so many of us have come to hate. She says how things are. Whether it’s voicing what a terrible idea something is while still agreeing to help, or simply pointing out the fact that no one knows anyone’s phone numbers anymore. She helps keep an insane show full of crazy supes, weirdly more realistic and light hearted, and Lizzie nails every delivery.

Overall Grade: 8.5/10
Every episode this season has proven even more than the last that Hamish Linklater being cast as Dean Cipher was the absolute perfect casting. The layers and shifts we’ve seen from him have been seamless. From powerful, to creepy, to vulnerable. We know he’s still hiding something big, as his obsession with Marie grows. He won’t stop until he has everything he wants from her and the other students of Godolkin U. This obsession truly shined in this episode. He’s clearly become too obsessed with pulling all the strings and is spiraling as he feels himself losing control.
With every Dean Cipher spiral, or Marie revelation, the more we understand the past. Which further entangles ‘Gen V’ with ‘The Boys,’ and makes everything feel that much bigger, and smaller, at the same time. With each episode I find myself more excited to see how this season ends, while also counting down the days until ‘The Boys’ season 5.
