Battle Beast #3
Quite possibly the hottest book around right now next to Absolute Batman, Ultimate Spiderman and a few others, Battle Beast is just that … a BEAST of a book. It’s only 20 pages, but this warrior straight off the pages of Invincible makes them feel like 200 pages.
And while Battle Beast is blood-thirsty for a true hero’s death, he’s finding it incredibly hard to find an adversary worthy of his demise. Will issue #3 do the trick? We think not, but here’s to hoping.

Creative Team:
Writer: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Ryan Ottley
Color Artist: Annalisa Leoni
Letters: Rus Wooton
Publisher: IMAGE COMICS/SKYBOUND ENT
The Art:
Trust me when I say Ottley’s art literally jumps off the panels. No, I mean that literally. That’s because the pages of Battle Beast CANNOT contain this ruthless animal.
Ottley is another one of the elite artists in the comic book game today. Every single page in this book is like a splash page.
From Beast floating in space and cutting through his opponents like butter to the blood, guts and mayhem, the art here is second to none.
As Beast would say, “More!”

“INVINCIBLE UNIVERSE: BATTLE BEAST #2 – THE RAGE IS BEING UNLEASHED
The Writing:
I mean … It’s Robert frigging Kirkman. You already know what happens when you pair Kirkman and Ottley together, they create something truly magical … and bloody … and fun!
This genuinely “is the glory you’ve been seeking.”
With books hyped up as much as Battle Beast, it’s very very hard to live up to the hype. Kirkman has done just that. This books feels like it’s been out for years, yet we’re only a few months in. Geesh!
Even as Beast is being betrayed by someone he thought of as an ally (mind you he’s trying to save his people) and a computer, the pages offer humor, jokes and the cleverest turn of phrase. It’s classic Kirkman, he puts just as much into the secondary characters, as he does the leading star or stars.
The dialogue, the interactions, the humor amid the drama, it’s all Kirkman … and it’s a blast.
Overall Grade: 9/10
I already love this book and want “MORE!” It really is a bloody good time. Beast is such a unique character on such a creative mission, even if it is to meet his end. But along the way, you start to understand his path while also rooting for some of the other supporting cast. This is another must read!
