Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has just ended with the release of the Thunderbolts, now also known as The New Avengers. Our Lead Editor, Matt, sits down and gives his rankings of the 6 films we saw as Marvel continues to ramp up toward the 2026 release of Avengers Doomsday.

Marvel’s Phase 5 Films Ranked

6. Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania.

What was supposed to be the big introduction to Kang and set us on a path of multiversal destruction instead left much to be desired. There were bright spots in the film such as Cassie Lang played by Kathryn Newton and diving into the world of the Quantum Realm however, not even a legion of ants could carry this film to a higher ranking. 6/10

5. Captain America: Brave New World

Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed this one a good bit. Seeing Sam Wilson carry the shield and take on Red Hulk and the Leader was a lot of fun. Even the air-to-air combat sequence around the Celestial (yes we can finally put that complaint to rest) was incredibly exhilarating the way it was shot and how Cap flew visually was awesome. Unfortunately, I do feel as though there were some plot points that I wish we had gotten more of such as making the Leader more of a focus and not spoiling Red Hulk in the promo ( I understand why they did.) Overall it is a fun film with a lot to be excited for. 7/10

4. The Marvels

Again this was another fun film for me. Kamala as always is full of heart and seeing Monica and Carol together and dancing around their past brought depth to the film. The final fight even featured some great action sequences of the three using their powers in tandem. The villain was the main issue for me in this one because there just wasn’t much there to go off of and it all happened so fast. The post-credits did bring us Beast though!! 7.5/10

This is Where Things Get Difficult

3. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.

Honestly, the Guardians franchise has never been my go nor have they been as high up in my rankings compared to other people. Gunn’s finale for this band of misfits though hit in the feelings in every which way. Rocket’s past is haunting and tragic, Peter and Gamora don’t end up together breaking the usual trope, and the hallway fight one-shot sequence was so well done! It was a fitting finale and brought us Adam Warlock even and I am interested to see where his story goes. 8/10

2. Thunderbolts*/ New Avengers.

Thunderbolts, New Avengers, don’t matter Void in 4. Despite Marvel switching up the name a mere 4 days after this film’s release I thought this got us back on a focused track. Each member of the team brought a tragic and flawed background that they had to work through. Lewis Pullman and Florence Pugh can read me the bible they are so amazing. It takes place in a short period and even sets up a clearer picture going forward. I do have one complaint and that is I don’t like that reveal in the post-credit scene even though we all knew it was coming. 8.5/10

1. Deadpool & Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman back as Logan and in his comic-accurate suit? Yes, so much yes, and sign me up until he’s 90. Ryan and Hugh played off of each other so well and it was a beautiful homage to the Fox Universe. Seeing Wesley and Jennifer back in their roles and even getting Channing as Gambit was an incredible surprise to boot. There was a lot to love in this film and no surprise it was the top of my list. 9.5/10

So there we have it all of the films released in phase 5 and ranked according to one nerd’s opinion. Do you agree or disagree? What are your favorites? Let us know!
