We all know by now how crucial Marvel post-credit scenes can be, especially setting up future movies and crossover events.
And when it comes to the “Thunderbolts*“, Marvel hit us with a crazy post-credit that may have actually revealed too much!
WARNING – SPOILERS AHEAD!
Set 14 months after the events of the movie, the post-credit scene reveals the New Avengers aka the “Thunderbolts*” operating from the former Avengers Tower, facing public skepticism and a legal dispute with Sam Wilson (Captain America) over the use of the “Avengers” name.
In “Brave New World,” Sam was tasked with rebooting the Avengers, so he trademarked the name and now there is a battle happening over who the real team will be.

The scene culminates with the team receiving an alert about an interdimensional spacecraft entering Earth’s orbit.
Satellite imagery reveals a ship with a prominent “4,” signaling the arrival of the Fantastic Four into the MCU.
This moment serves as a direct lead-in to The Fantastic Four: First Steps, scheduled for release on July 25.
Implications for the MCU
These post-credits scenes lay the groundwork for several significant developments in the MCU:
Introduction of the Fantastic Four: The arrival of Marvel’s First Family hints at their central role in upcoming narratives, particularly in Avengers: Doomsday. Since the events of FF: First Steps are set in the 1960’s, we’ve been wondering how they would enter the main MCU timeline and the main MCU Universe. This post-credit could be a hint at that.
Potential Avengers Schism: The dispute over the “Avengers” name between the New Avengers and Sam Wilson’s team suggests a possible internal conflict, but also hints at Secret Wars. If you add the Fantastic Four, we now have THREE teams and we haven’t even started phase 6. Expect more to emerge as all the heroes could wind up on Battleworld, looking to take on Doom and other villainous threats.
Looking Ahead
The Thunderbolts post-credits scenes effectively transition the MCU into Phase 6, introducing new characters and setting up complex inter-team dynamics.
With The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, these developments promise to expand the MCU’s narrative scope and re-engage audiences with fresh storylines and character arcs.
