Web of VenomVerse #1
The VenomVerse is about to explode as Marvel introduces VenomMouse, Venomizer, and an alternate Venom as the Symbiote Hive Mind does its best to create a fair conquest to see who lives and who vanishes when it comes down to Symbiotes or Spiders.
And with this new series, we get a slew of amazing guest writers, artist and more. It’s a thrilling tale that opens up the Symbiote world we know and brings us new adventures. It also shows a fresh take on the Symbiote history, which is always fun to dive into.
Creative Team:
Writers: Mat Groom, Erica Schultz, David Dastmalchian, Chris Eliopoulos
Artists: Luciano Vecchio, Dylan Burnett, Juan Jose Ryp, Chris Allen, Chris Eliopoulos
Color Artist: Rachelle Rosenberg, Jim Campbell, Yen Nitro, Matt Milla, Chris Eliopoulos
Letters: VC’s Travis Lanham
Publisher: Marvel Entertainment
The Art:
As we dive into the history of Symbiotes in the Marvel Universe, the art does an exquisite job of detailing all the unique and varying Symbiotes over time.
As the Hive Mind searches for its Symbiote team leader, the art goes from the adorable to the terrifying as it transitions from character to character.
Each character is told by a different creative team and the stories each have their own unique visual takes on the varying Symbiotes and their worlds. As we’ve seen with the Spider-Verse, this is such a fun way to dive into alternate dimensions and worlds with our favorite anti-hero Venom!

The Writing:
With Groom and Schultz, you have two of the best writers in the game, working on the same fun book, but differing storylines and characters, with Groom taking on both the Hive Mind and the alternate Venom, while we have Schultz penning the adorable VenomMouse, soon to be an instant fan favorite.
Next, you have the uber talented Dastmalchian, the man you know and love from movies and his past work in comics, bringing us the Venomizer.
Each tale has its own very either cute or harrowing backstory that will leave the reader absolutely wanting more. It’s such a fun book that dare I say I prefer this amalgamation to those of Spider-Man?!?!
Overall Grade: 9.0/10
I’ve read similar books involving the Spider-Verse and I have to say, this one takes the cake. It checks all the boxes from the cute to the heroic and back again.
Marvel brought out the absolute A-team for this one, so it’s a must have for your pull-list!
