After last week’s episode, the contestants are feeling the pressure. Gunther instilled the notion of “Toughness and Grit” into the hopeful future stars of the WWE. He awarded a controversial point that swung everything upside down.

Early favorite Jasper Troy and his coach Booker T were not happy. How will they and the rest of the teams and coaches respond? Let’s see what this week’s episode of “WWE LFG (Legends and Future Greats) has in store!

TEAMS * COACHES:

Booker T: Anthony Luke, Penina Tuilaepa, Jasper Troy and Leigh Laurel

Mickie James: Dani Sekelsky, Chris Island, Troy Yearwood, and Sirena Linton

Bubba Ray Dudley: Zena Sterling, Drake Morreaux, Tatyanna Dumas and Cutler James

Undertaker: Tyra Mae Steele, Shiloh Hill, Bayley Humphrey and Elijah Holyfield (son of Boxing Legend Evander)

LAST EPISODE’S REVIEW!

Both Mickie James and Bubba Ray Dudley start with some pep talks to their groups. The talks get put to the test with a surprise from coach Booker T. He challenges Chris Island to a push up competition. It eased the tense atmosphere long enough to start the next phase of  WWE and A&E‘s new reality show!

Shawn Michaels announces the mid-way mark has been hit. The coaches are asked who’s their early picks. Bubba picks Zena Sterling. Booker chooses Jasper Troy. Chris Island is Mickie’s choice. The Undertaker challenges his team saying no one is ahead of anyone yet. It’s a great motivation point.

IT’S ME, IT’S ME, IT’S DDP!

Michaels spins this into tonight’s challenge. He starts breaking down the importance of the signature move. That said, Diamond Dallas Page is introduced to the group. Wrestling fans know the impact of “The Diamond Cutter”. Page breaks down the late start of his career and how he got over via hard work. The role his move played is what made him a Hall of Famer. He tests the group to show off their best signature move.

Bubba works with his team on finding their moves. Drake wants to do a top rope splash. Bubba says if he can do the “Bayou Boogie”, he’s got something. Cutler James appears to be struggling with his. For Booker, Leigh Laurel’s first try doesn’t go over. Same for Shiloh Hill. Jasper Troy has something cooking but none have more behind it than chris Island.

Island wants to perform the “KJP””” or “Kal Jak Promise”. It’s in honor of former WWE NXT wrestler Clayton Jack (Kal Jak) who wrestled at Island’s high school. Jack tore his shoulder during his NXT side. Island had to sell it to his coach, but Mickie was on board.

Sirena Linton goes for a similar way asking trainer Molly Holly for permission for her move. Holly pauses and wants to see Linton successfully practice her moves first before a blessing. Bayley Humphries continues to impress with how fast she’s picking up. She takes advice from Michele McCool and Page for fine tuning hers.

Zena Sterling struggles to pull hers off. Trying a “Tilt-A -whirl” slam takes using momentum to sell it. Sterling is showing she can’t swing hers well and safely enough. Bubba looks for a possible opponent to help with this. He comments towards Dani Sekelsky, from team Mickie. She can’t go and Bubba makes a playful comment about it. Chris Island takes offense and picks the wrong person to get into with about it. Tempers flare right before matches are booked. when they calm, the action shapes up.

TONIGHT’S CARD IS SET!

CULTER JAMES VS. ANTHONY LUKE

Luke has all the star appeal WWE looks for. James needs to work on his ring persona. In-Ring, there are areas of improvement. James is taking WAY too long to set up his finishers. There are too many arm rotations. Luke looked good with his very new move getting the win! Overall, very solid work form both.

LEIGH LAUREL VS. ZENA STERLING

Sterling has new ring gear after James made her comments about her last outfit. Very back and forth match. There was an actual “trip spot” done. Sterling wins with her tilt-a-whirl slam. The coaches have praise for both, but Laurel gets more critical feedback. It should be motivating but hasn’t hit yet. James checks in on Laurel and DDP gives some sound advice. Hopefully Laurel starts implementing it.

CHRIS ISLAND VS. ELIJAH HOLYFIELD

There is some real heat between these two. Holyfield wearing jewelry isn’t sitting well with the Undertaker. It is astounding to see the development of Holyfield. Very solid performance with Island hitting a flush KJP. In feedback, Holyfield is tore into about his jewelry as it was a distraction. Island is humbled with his previous comments. Will he learn? Time will tell.

SIRENA LINTON vs. BAYLEY HUMPHRIES

Linton takes a bad bump early. It’s hard to tell if she got concussed but the match goes on. Linton hit the Molly-Go-Round perfectly. Humphries continues to impress. It’s a broken record but she’s doing all the little things that will take her far. Solid finisher for Humphries and the coaches acknowledge both.

AND THE POINTS GO TO…..

After all the feedback, it’s time to award points. Booker acknowledges Anthony Luke. Mickie goes all in for Sirena Linton. The Undertaker is torn but Elijah Holyfield stands out to him. Bubba says many of the talent took a move forward. DDP gets the overall call on points. Page awards ANTHONY LUKE and SIRENA LINTON the points.

POINT STANDING: Undertaker 5, BOOKER 5 Mickie 3, Bubba 1 (after 8 episodes)

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

  • Chris Island needs to keep the attitude in check. Excellent finisher but needs to translate the outside ring comments to inside.
  • Great showing for Anthony Luke. He’s made a great finisher that should carry him far. Is there a small rivalry forming between him and Jasper Troy for Booker’s attention?
  • Sirena Linton had a great outing but needs to improve on her overall presence.
  • There’s Bayley Humprhies and then there’s everyone else on the women’s side. A star is on the rise.
  • NEXT WEEK: TAG TEAM WARFARE with D-Von Dudley!
