Marvel Studios officially announced the cast for the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday,” which is set to release on May 1, 2026. And it was a 5-hour long stream, revealing big name after big name. Fans were hyped to say the least.
The ensemble features a blend of returning Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) actors and new additions.
Notable cast members include:
- Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU, this time portraying the villain Doctor Doom.
- Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor.
- Anthony Mackie returns as Sam Wilson/Captain America.
- Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier.
- Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther.
- Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man.
- Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
- Simu Liu as Shang-Chi.
- Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova.
- Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen reprise their iconic roles as Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto, respectively, from the original “X-Men” films.
- Alan Cumming returns as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler.

Those Not Included
The announcement has sparked discussions among fans due to the absence of key characters such as Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and Spider-Man (Tom Holland).
However, Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. have hinted that additional casting announcements.
