A Case of Killer Writers’ Block
A woman returns home from a date, as she gets ready for bed, her date sits in his car. At that time a killer appears in the car and kills the man. We are then instantly transported to the home office of Seth Holms. Seth is an author who had a great deal of success with his book He Came in with a Smile, which was a fiction book about a serial killer. Seth wants to leave that world behind and create works in other genres, but the draw to the genre keeps pulling him in.
Most of the reason Seth wants to change styles is because he is now a family man, and he wants to write things for his child. When he goes back to writing though, the grisly murders in his mind just jump onto the page. There is just one problem, the acts he’s committing page are happening in the real world.
A Book to Die For
This first issue brings a lot to the table and really catches the reader with its mystery and suspense. Tyler Boss brings the Giallo sub-genre of horror to the comic book pages to great effect. The intrigue of what is actually going on brings the reader in like a moth to a flame. Connecting minor dots without revealing the full and true story works in the books benefit and makes you want more.
The art in this book is outstanding and breathtaking. Adriano Turtulici captures the Giallo style on each and every panel. The color scheme is perfect for the genre, well the brutality of the killings stands out. The entire vibe the story is trying to convey is brought to life by the art seamlessly. This is one of the most visually stunning books out today.
