Monster High: New Scaremester #7- The Final Countdown

It’s the final countdown. Writer Jacque Aye, Artist Caroline Shuda, Colorist Katherine Shuda, and Letterer Neil Uyetake have made a stellar final issue.

The issue starts with Clawdeen and Toralei at the Maul. They are having a conversation at the Coffin Bean, and it’s pretty interesting. Clawdeen mentions that the 2 of them fell in love at math camp. But that love ended when Clawdeen went and focused on her fashion empire. 

This then leads to the mention that Clawdeen’s mother gave up her life when she fell in love and started a family. Clawdeen and Toralei then proceed to apologize, but then Toralei finds out what Clawdeen has planned. 

The scene shifts to a wooded area, and Clawdeen meets up with Cleo and Draculaura. This is where Clawdeen realizes that Frankie is missing, and they need to go see her dad now. We then cut to Headmaster Frankenstein in his office. 

A flashback then shows Frankenstein and Nora talking months ago. This reveals he was involved in some mysterious experiment on the zombies. We then see that Clawdeen and the others show up to talk to him. 

This is where Frankenstein lets the truth come out. He reveals that he was getting blackmailed about his research on zombies and reanimation. This then leads the ghouls to find out that Frankie was also captured. 

The 3 of them and Frankenstein then go and find the hidden lab. We cut back to Toralei at her place, and she notices that Clawdeen is somewhere. The scene cuts back to the lab, and the team is exploring around. We then see the mysterious person with Frankie strapped to a bed. 

This is where things get really interesting. Frankie is strapped down to the chair, and it looks like something bad is about to happen to her. Cleo and the girls end up attacking the mystery person, and it turns out that Lothar has been behind everything. 

By this time, Lothar also reveals what he has been working on with Frankenstein’s research. The zombies are under the control of Lothar, and they go on the attack. We see everyone trying to attack the ghouls. 

Frankie decides to try to destroy the machine. Ghoulia also sees her and tries to attack her, but Frankenstein takes the metal stake instead. While Frankie is dealing with that, Cleo decides to take matters into her own hands. She lets out a loud shriek that destroys the devices. 

That shriek proceeds to destroy the devices, and the zombies are free of Lothar’s control. Now while everything is happening, the school’s headmistress is also found in the lab. Lothar then reveals his plan was for a Boo World Order. 

Everyone then works to get out of the lab before more dangerous things happen. The final panel shows a message from CryptCrier saying that they are back. 

Overall Grade: 10/10 

This is how you end a beautiful story. The way this issue plays out made me satisfied at the end. I’m very excited to see where IDW goes from here with this comic series. Let Us Know Your Thoughts On The Issue In The Comments Below:
