THE WHITE LOTUS SEASON 3 EPISODE 4 RECAP: Hide or Seek

Episode 4 of The White Lotus has raised the tension considerably for all of our characters in various ways. By now, everyone has found their routine, and for some, it has become bland, and for others, the nightmare continues on. We still do not yet know who or what causes the chaos of gunfire seen in the opening scene of the season, but we may have gotten another step closer.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

The Ratliff family continues to be perhaps the most curious and chaotic of all of our new guests, especially Tim. The FBI is looking into an embezzlement scheme that he has been apart of, and Tim has found his way into his wife’s prescription medicine. coupled with not having his phone, the man is in a fast downward spiral that even Busch Gardens would be jealous of. The family joins the party on Gary’s yacht party where Tim steals his wife’s entire bottle of pills and spends the day in a drunken medicated phase that started off by showing more of himself than anyone had ever expected to see first thing in the morning.

Victoria meanwhile on the boat could not be more disgusted with the company she is keeping and hid her purse only to find her medicine gone which can only mean we are about to see sh*t hit the fan with this family. Saxon and his brother continue on the boat with Chloe who has invited them to see the full moon while the remainder of the family head to dinner. At dinner Tim finagles his phone back to find out Kenny has coorprated with the FBI and all of his assets may be frozen and Tim is facing certain jail time leaving him to stealing a gun from the guard shack.

Rick Reveals His Secret

It wouldn’t be The White Lotus without certain death, and in this episode, Chelsea has become fed up with Rick’s doom-and-gloom energy when they should be having fun. Rick spends most of the day on the boat in his usual attitude, leading Chelsea to confront him and explain how sick of it she is. Rick reveals that he is going to Bangkok because the owner of the resort is the man who killed his father.

Rick was told his father was a good man who spent his time working with the local Thailand community to help save their lands from being taken. One day, his father disappeared, and his mom claimed it to have been because he was murdered by the owner of The White Lotus Resort. Rick decides to continue to Bangkok while Chelsea opts to stay on the yacht and join the full moon party.

Speaking of the yacht, Belinda could not let go of the feeling that she knew who Gary was. This leads to her research on Tanya, only to discover she died in Sicily. From there, she discovers that Gary is Greg, and he has been wanted for questioning related to her death. Gary, on the other hand, looks into Belinda and realizes she indeed has come across his path before setting up a certain show down.

Jaclyn, Kate, and Laurie Search for Adventure

After being cooped up for three days, Jaclyn begins to want to have some fun and adventure and see new sights. She has been unable to reach Harrison, her husband, which is certainly a contributing factor. She asks Valentin at breakfast if he knows any spots, and Valentin sends them first to a geriatric resort, and it remains a mystery still as to why he sent them there.

When they return to the resort, they force Valentin to leave and take them on a journey in search of fun and excitement. He takes them downtown and leaves them in the market, promising to meet back up with them. As soon as he leaves, they are chased down the street by children with water guns and hide inside a shop to wait out the storm of crazy children. Valentin finally meets back up with them along with his two friends and I can’t quite put my finger on it but, they seem as though they may be the ones who committed the robbery. Valentin spends the entire episode sliding himself into the suspect column.

A Clearer Picture

Things have begun to slide into focus as each of our parties has found themselves in various precarious situations, unless you’re Saxon, who seems to be there for a good and yet uncomfortable time. Who the shooter is and what the cause is has yet to be revealed; however, our list of suspects has been narrowed down. Who do you think it is?
