*SPOILERS AHEAD*

The Story:

Hickman has made this story go from bleak to moments of kick ass fun and then somehow managed to get even more bleak. He has taken us to Mars in this issue where we get to see Tony suit up triumphantly. However, he reminds us this story is not one of happiness as I enjoyed how they involved Mr. Sinister and various forms of him.

Despite the bleakness there are bright spots such as the inclusion of Old Man Logan! This story continues to be really gripping and showcase how frightening the Alien species can truly be. Cory has another strong outting to add to the suspense with his lettering and emotion coming from our characters.

The Art:

Esad is drawing up some intense sequences in this issue as he brings us to the colony of Mars which has been reduced to a lifeless colony. The way Esad draws Mr Sinister and his clones while managing to make each one feel unique was a standout in this issue for me. He continues to capture the swiftness of the Aliens and intense action sequences that become often breathtaking.

Ive stands tall coloring this issue with Mars brown and desolate landscape. The way Ive contrasts our characters uniforms against the landscape makes this issue pop out and gives it life. The shading and tones used to capture the tired and old look of our heroes gives them life and tears showcasing how much they have been through.

Final Thoughts:

Aliens Vs. Avengers #3 continues to paint a bleak story with little hope as the team is putting the strength and hunting prowess of the Alien species on full display. We have the triumphant return of characters while also losing beloved ones in the process. This run is going strong and I cannot get enough.

Overall Grade: 9/10
