In this first issue of Nexus, it is establishing a lot of world-building. Even before getting into the story, it talks about Nexus being a jury, judge, and executioner of many worlds. Nexus seems to be a person who goes around policing different worlds.Â
DON’T MISS THE TOP 10!
It gives a mixture of how the Green Lanterns work, but the only difference is it is only one person. Nexus seems like a regular person outside of doing this. He is portrayed as a simple guy, who likes golf. Nexus also has a girlfriend, but he is always taken away because he has to go investigate something off-earth.
I really enjoy the art, it’s really clear and makes an effort to show all the worlds in this universe. I also enjoy the suit that Nexus wears. It is similar to how Invincible’s suit is, but it’s just in black. Most of the suits that superheroes wear, tell a specific story. It is kind of hard to see Nexus’s intentions, but this is only the first issue. Hopefully, the world and Nexus will be flushed out in the next issue.
Some of the supporting characters I enjoy as well. Raul made me laugh a little, as he tried to contact Nexus. Nexus has a real respect for Raul’s opinion, and also how he sees how Nexus needs to proceed on these worlds. Nexus’s girlfriend also is an interesting character, because she knows his secret. She likes to have fun, just like Nexus does. She joined him out on the golf course, and she is very competitive.
I want to read the next issue, to see if they can flush out the world-building. I believe that there is a lot going on at once. I also want to see Nexus get into some action sequences, and actually fight people. Like other comic characters, I want to see Nexus’s powers on full display. I cannot wait to see what is in store for the second issue. Nexus has real potential to step out and do something different than other comic stories are doing.
