Initial Thoughts:

Let’s start off by talking about how Bryan drew Albert Einstein in such immaculate detail that it looks as though it was an actual portrait of the man. I am absolutely blown away by how real he looks and in awe of the way him and Brad and Andrew worked their magic to just pay homage to the most brilliant genius of all time. The amount of emotion drawn in these pages pulls at our heart strings and the grief strewn about Simon’s face as he visits old places and we see flash backs of him visiting grave after grave in various decades just lends to how masterful the art team is. Rob brings up the letters by delivering Albert’s voice in such a soft tone in the way of an old man that he now is.

As for the story Geoff follows up an epic issue 6 by delivering one of the most heart-wrenching issues to date. Albert is on his death bed and Simon’s best friend and as Albert even states his father figure is in his final moments bringing the two of them together again. Simon amongst the sadness he feels manages to tell a tale of saving the Gettysburg Address in a way only he can do. Geoff has just emotionally destroyed us in this issue.

Final Thoughts:

Redcoat #7 is the emotionally wrecking epilogue to the adventurous tales of Simon Pure and Albert Einstein. It is a goodbye to a friend that I think many readers can connect with and especially for those of us who have had to say goodbye many times to those we have loved. This is my number one pull this week. Read it.

10/10 tears don’t fall they crash around me.
