The First Panel of New York Comic Con was packed to the gills! AppleTV+ recently premiered the first two episodes of the hit show Shrinking and, to celebrate, brought the cast sans Harrison Ford to chat about it! The energy in the room was electrifying and full of excitement, with the cast fully taking in the love from the crowd.
So Much Emotion
First things first, to kick off the panel, Jason Segel, who plays the show’s leading character, Jimmy, announced that Season 3 had been GREENLIT! Though no, to the surprise of no one, it still brought roaring cheers and thunderous applause.
One constant from the entire cast is how well this show is written. Ted Mcginley said, “This is the best job ever!” During the panel, the cast constantly praised the writing team because it allowed them as actors an easier time to access the emotional depth needed to bring their characters to life.
On Screen Presence
Because of the phenomenal writing, the cast can dive into emotional depths while adding humor on the screen. This is furthermore encouraged on set, as everyone, including the crew behind the camera, is allowed to break character and laugh, which gives the cast instant gratification, knowing they are doing their job well, including the improv scenes, as it’s not just the writing but also the actors’ input into the development of their characters.
Additionally, the vibe on the set and with the cast lends itself to the fact that no matter the scene and who you put in, “IT WORKS.” This season has a few special guest stars who have even worked with the cast on other projects.
Final Feelings from the Couch
Shrinking, if you can’t tell by now, has been a smash hit for AppleTV+, and we cannot wait to see what is in store for Season 3! Speaking of Season 3, it could also be the last, claimed Brett Goldstein, as they have always had a three-season vision for the show. However, in the meantime, lay down on the couch and check out this fantastic review by Matt from Hops Geek News. Then, return here to the Nerd initiative for all your NYCC 2024 news!
