After reading X-Force #1, I couldn’t wait for the second installment to come out. Geoffrey Thorne knocked it out of the park and continues to do so with X-Force #2. Jumping into X-Force #2, the Analog, Forge’s invention that finds world-destroying disasters, takes the team to Wakanda. The team is more than aware that this is a reckless mission, as Wakandans are known for their stealth and being unwelcoming to visitors.

With that said, the team’s jet explodes, littering the grounds of Wakanda with the X-Force members. Once on the ground, Sage tries to process what happened with the jet and what they’re up against, but she struggles. She says there’s too many variables present. Suddenly, Betsy, AKA Captain Britain, starts to have struggles of her own. To everyone’s surprise, it’s magic, and an ancient magic at that.

Immediately, they’re surrounded by Wakandans who don’t take kindly to their visiting. The Wakandans are out for blood so the team makes a run for it. Sage gets captured and demands to be taken to their leader. She then finds herself in front of the Black Panther, or at least that’s what’s claimed.

The Art

The art throughout the comic is bright, exciting, and keeps your eyes focused on each panel. The gorgeous contrasting colors of each character adds to the excitement of the plot. Each scene is drawn dramatically which makes it hard to want to look away. It really gives the X-Men comic vibe you’re looking for. What I really appreciated was how excellently the Wakandans and Black Panther was drawn. Their beautiful contrasting colors gave the juxtaposition of beauty and fierceness.

The Writing

Admittedly, I didn’t find X-Force #2 quite as strong as its predecessor, but it was still really entertaining. The character’s are written with great chemistry which shows throughout the comic. So far, I’m really enjoying this X-Force team together as I feel they work really well together. Sage was a fun focal point of the comic, as it’s a magic versus technology plot. All in all, I think this was a good continuation of the X-Force series, which makes me excited to see what’s next.

I give this a 7.5 out of 10
