The Midnite Show from Dark Horse Comics, Issue 2

Issue one of The Midnite Show was all classic monster story meets modern day meta stories with a twist. Then it left us in suspense, but in a Blazing Saddles, busting through the screen sort of way. Horror, mystery, and comedy… it all came full circle. Now will the all too relatable movie guy survive? Will being a horror fan for years, if not decades, help one survive against the one and only Dracula? Let’s find out in issue 2.

Check out the issue one review.

The Story for Issue #2

The second issue picks up right about where we left off in issue one. We’re still at the Basil Saxon Film Festival, with Gods of Monsters playing, as horror movies are literally coming to life. The main characters are struggling to wrap their heads around what is too supernatural to be reality. All the while bats fill the place up quicker than Bruce Wayne’s nightmares.

As each character attempts to adjust in their own way, we see Grace live streaming. You can’t have a modern day horror story without an influencer. I honestly thought she was going to be the most evil thing in this story until I saw a half wolf/half vampire (or a “Werepire” as Dean Winchester would call him), rip the face off someone.

Much like the first issue, this one had classic monsters, suspense, and comedy. However, it also places fans in the story. This almost gives the audience a different perspective, as you imagine how you would fare against the Monsters you love and have grown up watching. Then we’re left with an all too familiar face in more than one way.

The Art

On the cover you see a grainy and dark monster reaching out of the screen into a more vibrant and colorful world. From the classic monsters of the past to current day, the art stays fun and moves the story along. This is definitely a book you can judge by the cover. The inside is just as awesome as the cover.

The Midnite Show Issue 2 Rating: 9/10

If you’re a fan of classic monsters, and comic books, then this should absolutely be on your pull list. Halloween may (sadly) be over, but for true horror and monster fans, it lives in our hearts all year. Pick this up at your local comic shop, and then let us know, who do you think is the God of Monsters?
