Brief Overview of the El Capitan Theatre
Built in the 1920’s by real estate developers Charles Toberman and Sid Grauman, it was the largest theatre in Hollywood. In 1941, the theatre was converted to a movie theatre. Fast forward to 1989, the Walt Disney Company joined forces with Pacific Theatres and began a two-year restoration and re-opened on June 19th, 1991 for the world premiere of Walt Disney Pictures’ The Rocketeer. This would be the first of many Walt Disney Pictures’ feature films to premiere at the El Capitan Theatre. The theatre houses a top of the line Organ, the 4/37 Wurlitzer, which contains 4 keyboards and 37 ranks of pipes built in the 1920’s.
Early Fan Event Screening
I was so excited to attend the early fan event screening for Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania at the famous El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California. My show time was on Thursday February 16th, 2023 at 3pm PST. One amazing thing to note is, this is not and private (meaning, you need to be invited) type of event. Any fan can purchase tickets for these events when tickets are released for sale, and are on a first come first serve basis. This event was hosted by Nerdist, who have previously hosted Marvel Fan Events at El Capitan. My ticket included: 1 reserved seat, 1 event credential, 1 collectible popcorn tin, 1 beverage of choice, popcorn and Ant-Man And The Wasp Quantumania themed 3-pack journals. These fan events typically span over 2 days with different show times and every show time offers different items (collectibles) with the ticket. In addition to the awesome goodies, directors, producers and actors from the featured film have been know to make appearances and take the stage to speak with the audience. While this is not guaranteed for every showtime or event, it is truly a nice surprise.
Costumes and Props from the film
A part of this awesome fan event includes a display of costumes and props from the featured film! It’s truly nice to see the actual costumes and props from the film in person. Costumes on display for Ant-Man And The Wasp Quantumania were: Ant-Man, Wasp, Cassie Lang, Kang The Conqueror, Janet Van Dyne, Dr.Hank Pym, Jentorra and Quaz. Some of the props that were on display included, the Multiversal Engine, Multiversal Engine Core, Axia restaurant bar stools, the famous autobiography by Scott Lang, Look Out For The Little Guy and a few more.
If you’re planning to visit to Hollywood, I highly recommend checking out the El Capitan Theatre. You can visit their website for all show times and future events at http://elcapitantheatre.com
