Ryan Coogler’s X-Files Ordered To Series At Hulu

Published:

Ryan Coogler’s X-Files series has been ordered as a series at Hulu. The Sinners filmmaker’s project has been in its development phase for 3 years. The series is a part of Coogler’s five-year contract with Disney, with series creator Chris Carter sharing that Coogler has his “work cut out for him.” on a 2023 podcast, “Since we covered so much territory.”

“We’re looking forward to continuing this journey as executive producers and especially excited to work closely with Jennifer Yale, Simone Harris and the entire cast and crew as we bring this new chapter of The X-Files to life,” Proximity Media founder Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Ryan Coogler said in a statement. “It was also incredibly special to have our fellow Proximity co-founder Ludwig Göransson contribute the score for the pilot, making this a true collaboration across the Proximity family.”

The original series The X-Files aired from 1993 to 2002. It starred Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny as FBI agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, respectively. The two played government agents assigned to a shuttered division of the bureau who encountered everything from spiritual miracles to government conspiracies. The series produced 2 movies,6. The X-Files (1998) and The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008). Fox also attempted a series revival that ran for 2 seasons in 2016. The series has produced everything from toys to action figures to an incredible soundtrack.

Coogler’s version now has the chance to do the same. Starring Hamish Patel (The Odyssey) and Danielle Deadwyler (I Saw the TV Glow), the series seems ready to revisit the original with an incredible cast. Patel has especially caught my attention thanks to his awesome work on The Odyssey and The Franchise. While it remains to be seen who will play the “skeptic” and who will play the “believer”, Coogler is assembling an incredible team of behind-the-scenes producers and on-screen talent.

No series release date has currently been set.
