“Fortnitemares” Rears It’s Head

Every year, something almost every “Fortnite” player looks forward to is their massive Fortnitemares event. During the event, the island becomes caked in the spooky atmosphere of the season, bringing in horror icons, witch brooms and pumpkin launchers. In speaking of the icons, that’s always one of the biggest questions of the year: who will be coming to the island? Over the last few days, Epic Games has teased answers to that very question.

On Thursday, Epic Games released a teaser for the annual event, giving fans hints at what, or who, will be coming. Among them were a clock chiming at 7 PM, a black & white snake and a hand reaching out from a water heater. However, one of the most surprising hints has to be the tendrils coming out from behind the tree.

With this being the Gaming Legends season, it shouldn’t be too surprising that Slenderman might be making his way to the island. However, given that “Slender” released almost 15 years ago, his appearance is a bit shocking. That being said, he isn’t the only video game character to be coming! Over the last few weeks, fans have been keeping eye on a familiar looking pizzeria on the map.

For those who don’t know, “Five Nights at Freddy’s” has been a highly demanded franchise. Every year, fans have pushed for the franchise to be apart of “Fortnitemares”. However, series creator Scott Cawthon has always turned the opportunity down. This has always been to retain the tone and identity of FNAF. However, as of late last year, Epic has leaned more into the mature side of Fortnite’s teen rating. May this have enticed Scott to finally collab with them? Only time will tell!

With “Fortnite” leaning towards an older audience, and if that trailer is any indication, this is sure to be a truly frightening event! While previous seasons have brought the icons and Halloween feeling, they’ve never brought the scares. With this last year in mind, we could be getting a truly frightening event full of jump scares and edge.

Now, with all of this being said, the event starts on October 1st and ends on Halloween! I hope to see you on the island and have a spectacular spooky season you goblins and ghouls!
